what the hell to do

stoped by my local homebrew store and got them to fix me up a belgian triple extract kit. didnt really pay any attention to what they threw in the box. got home and this is what i have.

1 brewferm tripple pre hopped kit
4lbs muntons extra light dme
specialty grains
1lb Pilsen
.25 black malt (wtf)


here's my concern. the brewferm kit is only for a 2.5 gallon batch and with the extra dme I don't think is enough to get it to the 1.080 mark and what's up with the black malt. I'm hoping he checked the wrong box an is biscuit instead. my question is should I even give this a try or just take it back.

Take it back man. That's not going to make a Tripel

I think I spotted your mistake.

I got the extract and grains at 1.078 at 75% so you are in the ballpark with the gravity but I sure hope It's biscuit and not black malt. Check the color if It's not black he probably checked the wrong box.

I'd brew it up. "LHBS Surprise" sounds like a great beer name.
