What is the difference between OG and SG?

A sticky with all the acronyms would be helpful in the beginners forum.

I did a search but there were way too many pages of replies to sift through

SG (Specific Gravity) is just a generic term for any gravity measurements. OG (Original Gravity) is the gravity measurement taken immediately before the pitching of yeast. FG (Final Gravity) is the gravity measurement taken at the end of fermentation.

Thanks. I knew what OG and FG were but I've seen SG mentioned and wasn't sure if it was the same as OG or FG. I see now its just a generic term. Thanks again

BTW emptying beer bottles for bottling is one of my favorite parts of home brewing :)
