Hi all,

I have a very old 2 1/2 gallon Firestone keg. It appears when I apply gas to it that it leaks out underneath the nut which holds the relief valve. I have tightened it as much as I can but can still hear the leak. Any suggestions? Might keg lube fix that?

I'm having the same issue with an older 5-gallon. A very slow leak at the PRV discovered by spraying StarSan on it. I applied some keg lube to the tapered seal at the bottom of the PRV and I'm testing it now under pressure. If that doesn't fix it, I may put some teflon tape on the threads of the valve.

I just replaced my PRV when that happened. I guess the rubber tip didn't seal any more. Once I screwed in the new one, it was fine.

You can buy replacement PRVs. Since the seal is made by an o-ring, not the threads, Teflon tape won't help.
