    Forgot to Sanitize my Secondary!!!

So, in the heat of fending off my little daughters and trying to get my beer transferred to the secondary, I rinsed the carboy secondary, but forgot to sanitize it! What are my chances of losing this batch? Its pretty high alcohol (ruination all grain clone), but I am worried that I just...

Having difficulty finding a good recipe for a golden IPA

I really REALLY like beers like Mojo IPA and Avery IPA, but I have problems finding recipes for big hoppy IPAs that are nice and golden colored. I looked around for a clone recipe for either of these two types of beer, but I havent had any luck. Are you guys brewing IPAs that are a light...

    Recipes using Northern Brewer Hops?

With the hop shortage and more expensive hops, I am looking to use what I have in terms of hops. I have a bunch of Northern Brewer hops. Anyone have a line on an IPA that uses them? I could do PM or All Grain. Whatever works.

    Quick AG Advice Needed

I just started the boil on my Ed Wort Stone IPA clone, and I took a hydro sample from the boil kettle prior to starting the boil. I ended up mashing and sparging to get 7 gallons of wort to boil down to 5 or so. Beersmith estimated my preboil gravity at 1.059 and my reading is 1.042. Should I...

So I am having a problem with my keggle siphon

I have my brand new (newly) modified keggle with a weldless bulkhead and a new copper siphon I built to suck the last precious drops of wort from it. My only problem is that when I test it with water, it stops draining from the spigot when it reaches the elbow that turns down towards the bottom...

Recipe calls for Magnum, but all I have is Warrior!

My LHBS doesnt sell Magnum hops, and my recipe (a Stone Ruination PM clone) calls for one ounce of magnum at 60 minutes. I do have some Warrior, would that be a good alternate? If not, what other hops would work in place of the magnum? Greg

    Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale?

I am drinking this now, and its wonderful. Anyone care to come up with a partial mash, given what they have provided on this beer? http://www.sierranevada.com/beers/anniversary.html If anyone comes up with something plausible, I will be the first to brew it :) Greg

So what about 10 gallon PM batches?

I have a 10 gallon rubbermaid cooler converted to a mash LT, which I have used only once in an all grain batch. I plan to go back to an all grain batch soon, but I am really enjoying PM batches. I realize many will say its as much work to do all grain as it is to do PM, but I enjoy it so...

Can anyone recommend an Amber PM recipe?

I want to show my dad how to brew using the Partial Mashing method, but am having a hard time finding an amber recipe. I would prefer that he do an IPA, but he would rather have an amber. So....anyone have any good recommendations? Greg

    Ruination Partial Mash?

I finally got my hands on some of this brew and it is AWESOME! I would like to make a PM version of this, but I can only find extract or AG recipes. Can anyone point me to a PM recipe? I would really appreciate the help. Greg

Second PM - Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale

I emptied my primary and one of my secondaries so I thought I would try to up my brewhouse efficiency a bit this weekend and try my hand at another PM. I figured with a PM I would have the safety net of some DME. I think I finally hit it, though Beersmith disagrees. I ended up with an OG of...

    Need some quick help

I accidentally threw the irish moss in at 20 minutes into the boil instead of 10 remaining in the boil. Should i throw more in at the appropriate time at the end of the boil? I am boiling now BTW :) Greg

My Turn for a Craig's List Score!

Well, after reading about everyone's luck on Craig's list, I scored two used beer kegs from a local fella for the price of two sixers of homebrew. One is in better shape than the other, but both are usable. I already have the valve and dip tube out of one to begin working on it. SWEET!:ban:

Drilling an Aluminum Turkey Pot for a Ball Valve

I am going to upgrade to a Northern Brewer mega pot with a ball valve here soon, and thought I would also continue to use my cheapo aluminum turkey pot for brewing but I would like to install a ball valve to aid in draining wort/sparge water. Anyone have any tips on drilling the pot and what...

Can anyone recommend a good PM IPA?

I am still trying to get my efficiency up and practice mashing. I know there are lots of PM IPA recipes out there, but I would rather hear what the recommendations are of you folks. Anyone have any killer, hoppy IPA PMs that they can recommend? Greg

    Gelatin Photos

I took a photo of my Anchor Liberty PM clone right after transferring to the secondary lastnight and before adding gelatin. The second photo shows what it looked like the next day. Pretty impressive! The carboy on the left is my Ed Wort Stone attempt, that didnt quite pan out yet, so I will...
