    PBW my mash tun?

Hey guys, I recently brewed and didn't have time to clean out my mash tun afterwards. I use a ten gallon cooler... The grains have been sitting in there for a day or two now and I was wondering if I should use PBW to clean it out after removing the grain. I'm just worried about lacto and...

What temperature to use for figuring priming sugar?

So I have always been confused... When you're making your priming sugar solution, what temperature do you use for to figure the amount of sugar: The current temperature of the beer, or the highest temperature the beer hit during fermentation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :mug:

    Rager - Tinseth - Daniels - Garetz

I have seen these different calculations all over the place, and I know that they calculate IBUs differently. What I want to know is what that difference is? Does anyone have any answers?

    Propane burner: Which one?

I'm looking at getting a propane burner to do 5-gallon AG boils in a keggle and I'm just curious if anyone has any input as to which one to get. I'm kind of on a budget, so I just ran an Amazon search and found the three cheapest ones: $35 -...

    Cold brew coffee stout

Okay, so I'm brewing a coffee stout tonight. I've got 4 oz. of coffee in 20 oz. boiled of water sitting in a sanitized jar in my fridge. Now, I know you shouldn't boil coffee, so I was wondering what everyone thinks about this: Since I'm still doing partial mash stuff, using the coffee as...

    Priming sugar?

Hey all, It's been a while, but I'm finally ready to bottle my saison. Only problem is, how much table sugar should I use? The kit recommends 5/8 cup in 16 oz. of water, but a priming calc recommended 3 oz. of sugar. Here is some other info that might come in handy when answering...

    Favorite Commercial Beer Labels?

Not sure I'm posting this in the right place... What are some of your favorites? Two of mine are from Troegs (hey, I like my local brews) and one of them is pretty well known. Troegs Flying Mouflan http://www.thebeerbabe.com/wp-content/uploads/troegs-flying-mouflan-2.png Troegs Perpetual IPA...

    Cleaning Better Bottles

I was browsing today and came across an article on a site I don't now remember that stated that you should not clean Better Bottles with a brush as it will scratch them. Is this true? I have cleaned my primary with a brush and it looks fine. It wasn't a wire brush or anything like that, just a...

    Founders CBS

Anyone else manage to pick up a bottle? I drove a buddy of mine to get it at our local pub... He got the last bottle but has promised to share. (What a pal!) Anyone have any interesting stories about finding a bottle? A friend of mine in Brooklyn sprinted four blocks from his workplace to a...

    My stupid friends V.S. Reality

I've had a lot of friends who have toured Europe and all of them say that Guinness tastes better for some reason in Ireland. I'm skeptical about this, but I've been watching Oz and James Drink to Britain and now the question is REALLY nagging at me. So let's set the record straight. I know...

    Interview

I've got an interview at Troegs Brewing Company tomorrow morning. I'm incredibly stoked. I'm interviewing to work in their tasting room/gift shop. I'm really hoping to get the job, as I think it'd be a foot in the door. Any suggestions on how to nail this one, people?

    Wyeast Belgian Saison advice (AGAIN.)

Man, this Wyeast 3724 is REALLY finicky. The recommended temperature is 75-95 F. The closet where I keep my fermenter was hovering right around 80-83, but since the weather has started to get a little cooler, it has dropped to 75ish, and drops to about 70ish at night. I bought a small space...

What to do on a boring Friday night?

Man. What am I to do? It's Friday night, and my wife and I have nothing to do... Unfortunately, that means I'm bored. So I'm throwing it out there. Give me some suggestions, people.

    Someone help my saison.

Hey all. I've got a saison in secondary sitting in my closet. My OG was around 1060 and I kept it in primary for two weeks before I racked it. Now it's been in secondary for about a week. When I took a gravity reading while racking it to secondary it said it was at 1034 with temp correction...

    Troegs Perpetual IPA

Anyone tried it yet? I cracked open two bottles with some pals last time I brewed... About three weeks ago now. Pretty awesome... My wife loves the stuff. Very minimal sweetness, with a nice floral aroma and great piney taste and a smooth bitterness. I haven't seen anyone talking about it much...

    Abita Jockamo IPA

I had this for the first time last night. I'm a pretty big fan of IPAs, but I was really let down by this one. It seemed to me to be too spicy or too floral or something. The aroma really kind of grossed me out, and there was this weird kick to it that reminded me of stale cheese... Did I get...
