Are there any hops you actually dislike?

I don't like Fuggles. Tastes like dirt to me. And yes, I've tasted dirt. Not on purpose. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Fermenting a Baltic Porter

I've made a Baltic porter with ale yeast a few times but prefer lager yeast. The ale yeast causes the beer to have a sharp bite instead of a smooth taste/feel. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Fermenting a Baltic Porter

I have brewed a few Baltic Porters. I use Wyeast 2112. I ferment around 59-60 F for a week or until the krausen starts to fall then do a D-rest at 68+ for a week. I then transfer to secondary and lager for about 2-4 months at 34-36 F. Depending on how big of a hurry I am to drink it. I love...

    Keg lube

Thanks Topher! I'll pick up some tomorrow. Yes, I hate that Doug closed. I have learned a lot from him. Like you, I bought a lot of ingredients to hopefully cover me for a year. I also bought a Monster Mill to crush my grain. I did hear Doug and Chris mention about the offer. I definitely...

    Keg lube

So I have a need for some keg lubricant on one of my kegs because I have a small leak. Went to get it and someone misplaced it for me. This is the second tube that has been lost. I know I could order more from a brew shop, but don't really want to pay more for shipping than the lub. So the...

    Grain Mills - Your opinion?

I just bought a MM2. What is the gap that most folks use? I see on the website it recommends between .037-.055 Oh course I messed with the original gap because I wanted to tinker. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Corny Pressure Release - Ever see one like this?

Yes. I have 4 kegs and the relief valve looks like this on all of them. I have seen these at my LHBS. I never really thought to smell the relief valve for cleanliness. I just soak it in BBrite and then sanitize. Haven't had any issues yet. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Lager Fermentation

Understand. What you could do is look in the bucket to see if there is any krausen and take a gravity reading. The gravity reading is the true method to test if the fermentation is underway. Obviously, the reading should be less than 1.060 if fermentation is active. Be sure to sanitize the...
