    Brau Supply

Hey, Thinking about getting the mini for an indoor lab/pilot system doing approx 2.5 gallon brews. After reading through this thread it seems like a good fit..short of a pump upgrade this should fit the bill. Anything I'm missing? Seems like there should be plenty of room for 2.5-3 gallon...

Just finished a 1 gallon BIAB - Zombie Dust IPA

Moved the fermentor to a room where the ambient temp is around 66. Will leave it there until it looks like its done. To ease my impatience I took an extract kit and some 2-row I had sitting around and did a partial mash....and now we wait some more! :)

Just finished a 1 gallon BIAB - Zombie Dust IPA

A few observations after 6 days of fermentation. 1. On day 3 I noticed that there was a considerable amount of yeast stuck to the neck of the fermentor. Hopefully this isnt an issue, although I will say it seems fermentation has slowed..havent taken a gravity reading yet. 2. Ambient temp has...

    Sparge or no sparge?

I just did a 1 gallon biab over the weekend. I used a 12 qt kettle. It was a good size. At no point did I think I should have used a bigger kettle...but I'm not sure I could have done it in a 9 qt... Maybe, but it'd be tight.

Interesting...This sounds like a pretty good process. Do you rack to the 4 gallon to get a clearer beer? I might have to try this method out! edit: is this the recipe you used? https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/all-grain-hop-bomb-ipa-375281/

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Brewed my first one gallon batch this weekend. Loved it. It was also my first BIAB. I have only done a few 5 gallon extracts prior. I brewed a zombie dust IPA clone recipe and used a 3 gallon kettle I had sitting around. I used the BIABCalculator from homebrewfinds and boiled off some water...

    Room temperature and fermentation

Hi, For my most recent brew I am working on maintaining an optimal temperature during fermentation. I'm currently 48hrs into fermentation and it has been very active from about the 12 hr mark. Today it slowed...really not a concern but it got me thinking...... I have it in a nice quiet place...

Just finished a 1 gallon BIAB - Zombie Dust IPA

Once I was done stirring it in, and it had hit the mash temp, I put the lid on and draped a towel over it. After 12 minutes it dropped down 4 degrees..but I got it back up with a little low heat and stirring...At that point it held for the remainder of the mash.

Just finished a 1 gallon BIAB - Zombie Dust IPA

Thanks guys. I won't worry about the break...I'll stick to the plan and not bother with the secondary. Lots of activity in the fermentor this morning. yay, beer!

Just finished a 1 gallon BIAB - Zombie Dust IPA

After a few weeks of nonstop reading and watching youtube videos I took on my first BIAB. The process was pretty straight forward. It was a mostly smooth ride and very enjoyable. The one gallon batch size made it very manageable for one person. Definitely looking forward to doing it again. I...

    Hi....Again.

Howdy, This is sort of a re-introduction. A few years back I did a few extract batches and stopped in to homebrewtalk for some help. You guys were awesome...but I found brewing by myself to be a bit lonesome and it didnt stick. Got some buddies involved now all with varying experience...

What Brew Lessons Did You Learn From Your First Batch?

+1 for Patience. That and to just relax and enjoy the process. Practical stuff I learned: Have an extra bucket with sanitizer around... It will come in handy. also, "mise en place"...Have everything nicely organized on the table before getting started.

    Sparging

Thanks. I will check on the internal temp and look into some better temp control....thankfully come winter time It shouldn't an issue...I live in an old drafty house. Sometimes can't get it above 65 in some rooms. If the wort is in the high to mid 70s...safe to assume it's not gonna turn out?
