    Best Birthday gift ever?

A 10 gallon Blichmann Boilermaker, immersion wort chiller, and handcrafted mash paddle. Hard to beat me thinks. Granted, ingredients to make my next brew would've been nice, but a guy can't get all...cheers to all grain! brewing my first AG batch maybe this coming weekend...

    Clogged keg

excellent. thanks for the quick feedback. I was worried that since the keg was already carbonated there would be an issue. At least I have something to do on my day off now... Thanks J

    Clogged keg

Don't mean to bump an old thread that has basically been solved, but I have the same issue currently going on with a cider. Theoretically, I can depressurize the keg it's in, and then re-siphon it into a different keg using some sort of filter like nylon stocking? I just want to double check...

    First Taste

That's the great thing though. I was already gung-ho for the whole thing, but it's that verification that I actually didn't screw the whole thing up. That time at least...I know screw ups are bound to happen and I can accept and even enjoy that, but at least the first taste was good. The second...

    first partial mash, possible issues

Actually I don't. Might have to borrow one instead, just to make it less messy. Thanks for the help J

    first partial mash, possible issues

So I'm planning on doing my first partial mash tomorrow, a honey amber, and just discovered a possible issue. I don't currently have a mash lauter tun so was just planning on doing it in 2 pots. Of course I check today and realize the 2nd pot I was going to use is probably only 3 gallons at...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Doing a Honey Amber either tomorrow or Monday, depending on whether I can convince the wife that I need to buy another keg. Then an oatmeal IPA hopefully...Amber either way, I'd just like to come back from vacation to 2 beers being ready to keg and bottle.

    First Taste

Just cracked into my first taste of homebrew (second I've done, the coffee porter is still in conditioning) from my keg, and wow is it good. Not that great in the long run, an english bitter from extract kit so quite basic, but if nothing else it lets me know that all the time and energy I've...

    super malty partial mash

Thanks for the info. Might just be best to wait on this one until I have all grain capabilities. Although I do hate waiting...

    super malty partial mash

I've read a previous post or two about somepeople trying this with all grain and the grain bill is far beyond my equipment capabilities at this point. So, since I don't have access to my computer to plug a recipe into beersmith for another couple hours and work is really boring, is such a thing...

    Extract vs. all grain

It's good to know there isn't a huge taste difference. Admittedly I was concerned that I was using these extract kits and still making inferior beer. Although I'm still a little over a week out from actually tasting one of my very own that's cold and carbonated. I was looking at the recipe I...

    Extract vs. all grain

In the long run, time and money aren't necessarily a factor as long as the beer is good. In the end, it's all about the beer, and making the absolute best beer I can. As it is I'll be on my 3rd brew at the end of this month, so I have a feeling my best bet is to do a few more to get completely...

    Extract vs. all grain

So basically, and you've all said it much nicer, but I'm an idiot to think to do lots of extract brewing because long term it'll be way cheaper to get an AG system. I had thought a bit about the price of the equipment but not the grains and that was distracting me I guess. Figure hopefully 150...

    Extract vs. all grain

Sorry if this is a repost (it certainly must be...) but being new to the brewing life, I have a few questions about the differences as far as taste is concerned between extract brewing and all grain. Obviously it's an entirely different brewing session, I do understand that. But, how different...

    good day from ND

Hi there. I'm fairly new to brewing and whenever I had a question I couldn't quickly find an answer to in how to brew, the google always sent me here. Been lurking for a while and figured i'd take the plunge and join in. First brew just got bottled today so I'm pretty excited to try I...
