Brulosophy Podcast: if Jersey and Tim were my neighbors I would move.

This is amazing. Busch Laaat? You should meet them in real life. Yeesh. Seriously though, the beer review segment was my way of sticking it to the people who pride themselves on being "beer aficionados," and I think it's... working. My wife loves Jersey & Tim!

Anyone going to the 2018 Homebrew Con in Portland Oregon?

    REFRACTOMETER???

I use and like my refractometer, but only for OG readings. I use a hydrometer for FG measurement.

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

That's freakin awesome! Just moved where there's an active homebrew club, really hope they enjoy geeking out to this stuff...are club attempts to replicate xbmts asking too much?! Do it! Never done a high OG beer warm with lager yeast, but it’s on the list!

Flaked Oats vs. Wheat Malt In A New England IPA | exBEERiment Results!

In this exBEERiment, we had blind participants compare a New England IPA made with flaked oats to one made with the same amount of wheat malt. Were they different enough for them to tell them apart? Results are in...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

We’ve done it once with a Berliner Weisse: http://brulosophy.com/2016/11/14/boil-vs-no-boil-berliner-weisse-exbeeriment-results/ Will definitely add it to the list!

Do "professional" brewers consider brulosophy to be a load of bs?

You have no clue how much I’d love to get your “professional” palate involved in some of these tastings. Might humble you a bit.

Do "professional" brewers consider brulosophy to be a load of bs?

Are you presuming both beers in our lager ferm temp xBmts were estery? I’ve been drinking lager for over a decade, judging for nearly 5 years, and I haven’t detected esters in any of my warm fermented lagers with 34/70. Not that I expect it to convince you or anyone else of the validity of...

    Jaded Hydra/Spike 10 gallon fit?

    It’ll definitely fit [emoji482]

    another kegging off flavor question

I use Brew Buckets mostly these days, but the process is the same regardless. At the end of my tubing that's going from the fermenter to the keg, I attach a liquid disconnect. That liquid disconnect gets attached to the liquid post on a closed keg, and since I use pin lock kegs, I attach a...

My mountain water report (pilsner, anyone?) - North Bend, WA

I love and miss North Bend, at least what I recall of it when I lived in Bothell 2 decades ago. That water is great, easy to adjust for any style.

Refrigerator vs freezer for fermentation chamber

Freezers tend to be more insulated, which will naturally make them more efficient. But refrigerators work fine too. Maybe pick the one that fits your space best?

As any good brewer knows, you cannot make a delicious lager by fermenting warm!!!

    another kegging off flavor question

I'd reckon many will posit yours is an issue of oxidation, and while that may play a role, I'm not convinced... just yet. That said, perhaps you can try purging your keg (push starsan out with gas before filling) to see if that helps. Or, if you're feeling up for it, send a bottle to me to be...
