Using 2 cans of hopped LME - IDEAS and HELP needed!

I'm still figuring out the how to go about using grains. I haven't brewed for a few years. I just took the directions for steeping the grains from a partial extract kit. It said 20 minutes at temperatures between 150-160F before adding the LME. I'm guessing it did something for the batch. I know...

Using two cans of Mr Beer Belgian Christmas Ale 2013 - 5 Gallon Batch

I ended up steeping 2 1/2 cups of crystal 60l and 1/2 cup of chocolate malts for 20 minutes, then adding 8oz (1/2lb) of coconut palm sugar and the 2 cans of hopped LME. I brought it to a boil and stirred it for a minute then turned the heat off and pitched the WLP001 (California Ale) at around...

Add ons using Coopers Stout (Feedback please)

I actually over time learned to stay away from things like brew enhancers. I use malts DME or LME to raise ABV and increase the complexity. I will even sometime do specialty grains for a 20 minute steep before using extract kits. I've learned a lot in four years.

Using 2 cans of hopped LME - IDEAS and HELP needed!

I ended up steeping 2/12 cups of crystal 60l and 1/2 cup of chocolate for 20 minutes between 150F-160F I also added 8oz (approximately 2 cups) of coconut palm sugar The OG was right around 1058 I hope it turns out ok. It doesn't have to be a high ABV but it would be nice to have it finish in the...

Can I add carbonation drops (250) tabs to raise alcohol right after yeast?!

Okay, I feel kind of dumb asking this but my OG was 1032 on a (lol!) coopers lager. I for the heck of it added 250 small brewers best carbonation tabs right after adding the yeast. Will this raise my ABV or ruin the beer?! Any comments would help. I'm a noob I guess... :-(

Add ons using Coopers Stout (Feedback please)

Okay so I brewed it tonight, I boiled 10 oz of cocoa nibs in a op bag for 15 minutes, I added 8 oz of dark Belgian candy sugar into the boil to melt it all down. Then I added a 3.3lb can of dark malt extract and the can of coopers stout. I choose a packet of Nottingham yeast to ferment with. OG...

Add ons using Coopers Stout (Feedback please)

Hey guys, I have not done a coopers kit in a long time. I know alone they don't end up being much for a beer lover such as myself. I am trying to figure out if adding some extras will make it come out better here's what I got: 1.1lbs of LDME (light Dry Malt Extract) 1 box of brew enhancer 1...

Wyeast Activator London Ale No Action in 16 Hours

Hey guys, I smacked my pack yesterday and waited about six hours before I pitched it. The pack did swell up quite a bit so I was pretty sure it was ready to pitch. I put it in at Approx 69F wort. The package gives me a range of 60F to 72F. The fermenter temp is around 72F to 74F Right now. I...

Bummer : ( I am glad i asked. I still have a lot to learn about home brewing. The og was around 1042 and the fg was around 1022 I should have left it in the primary and added more fermentables. Since this was a coopers kit it wouldnt cost me much to dump it. I think I am going to skip over...

Refermenting in Secondary Carboy with Yeast & Dextrose

So I would like to confirm that adding another packet of yeast and about a pound of dextrose wouldn't hurt anything. It did foam over for a few minutes, but now it's got a thin layer of foam on top, lots of sugar at the bottom and lots of bubble in the airlock. Did I botch this this batch...

Refermenting in Secondary Carboy with Yeast & Dextrose

Hello, I recently made a Coopers Stout kit and the FG was "depressing". I did everything the instructions stated as well adding a half pound of belgian candy sugar (Dark) to try to boost the ABV a little. As of right now the FG is showing the the stout will have only 3.6% Alcohol :( So I...
