    WSM in cold temps?

There are alot of reasons why really..for me in cold weather I go through WAY more fuel especially if it's really windy also. I cooked about 16lbs of Pork butt and started with a coffee can with bottom cut out right in the middle of the charcoal ring (emptied of all ash) and poor unlit Kingsford...

Home Depot Kingsford Sale 2 13lb bags $5.88

My Walmart didn't have the 5.48 sale but my HD did have sale. Picked up 300lbs of K origina (2 pack 13.5lbs) for 5.88. If anyone needs to stock up it's not a bad deal. MODs can delete if it's not allowed here.

    First Brisket (on the BGE)

I've had some hit 210 internal before and still tender. I like to foil once hit's about 160-170ish then put back on for an 1.5 hours or so. I had a couple when I first started out I pulled too early and it was a tough as a shoe..I thought I over cooked but in fact it was way undercooked.

    First Brisket (on the BGE)

I second the packer briskets and use the internal temp as a guide only. "Feel" for doneness. you're fork, knife, thermo probe will slide in like butter. I like to do them at around 230-250 and I've had them take forever and I've had some be probe tender alot quicker than others. You can get an...

    Dog That Got Away?

If it were me and I already added priming sugar I'd purge the keg when you get your co2 tank by pulling the relief valve a few times and unhook the gas. Let the sugar carbinate. eventually with the co2 and sugar you'll get higher pressure in the keg than regulator is set for and you could get...

Inexpensive (but good) reverse osmosis system?

We use ours a ton for everything from coffee, water for humidifiers, mix with formula, brewing, dogs water, and of course drinking water. I just test with TDS meter about every 6 months or so. The summers chloramine is tough on the system so I buy the Chloramine filter pack for like $25. So with...

Inexpensive (but good) reverse osmosis system?

I bought mine from Airwaterice.com 50 G/day Dow filmtec membrane and love it. It hides under my sink and it wasn't that bad pricewise either. I have one with DI stage for the reef tank also but that's overkill for brewing. only issue is I have to fill my pots ahead of time if using straight RO...

attempting to make less bitter beer for the wife

My wife also likes blue moon so I make one that is not a clone it's just close in flavor profile..It's all grain recipe though. I think the BB wit kit from what I can gather online comes with wit yeast. I'd use S04 or S05 instead. Also I have no idea what's in their spice packet but it is VERY...

    Blue Moon Clone

I brewed #4 and also really enjoyed the flavor over the original but would like to get closer in color. It may be burried in the pages and pages but Wayne1 what SRM should I shoot for to get closer in color? 4 or so?

    Brinkmann Electric Gourmet Smoker

I had one and gave it away..didn't like it. Mine didn't have any temperature control and I didn't like the fact I couldn't get a very good flavor from the smoker. I bought a Weber Smokey Mountain and couldn't be happier with it. If I could do it over again I would have just got the Weber from...

All-grain brew day (lots of photos)

It's hard to tell from the picture of the wet grains as to the crush but to me it looks a little course? May be the rice hulls though I'm seeing. Sounds like your process is pretty solid.

    boulevard chocolate ale

I tried a few places yesterday but they all sold out in minutes. Two years in a row and I haven't had the opportunity to try it. I figured one of these years the hype will be over and people will stop hoarding all the supply. I'm not paying $20 a bottle either though so I don't really care if I...

What to do with other Mr. Beer HME?

I bought a variety pack in an after christmas sale several years back because it was 1/2 off and had a coupon. I brewed a single batch of it and the rest I used to make yeast starters. But if I only had the one I'd probably go ahead and brew it up for fun.

Funky aftertaste - Oakland, CA tap water?

here is your water report and varies greatly by plant. I took worst case and ran simple APA recipe in EZ water Calc and it does estimate your mash ph to be a bit high. you cant replace testing your own mash ph if you can and or sending in water to wards. the campden is a must also because they...
