    High Quality E-BIAB System?

I’ve been doing 3 gal batches in a 7.5 gallon electric pot for a couple of years. Bag sits on the heating element and I recirculate with heat during mash and have never scorched the bag.

    Simple E-Kettle Setup

Nice job. Compact and simple. I would like to make 2 suggestions. Replace your element with a 120v 1650W element. Your 5500w element run at 120v will result in 1/4 of the wattage for a 240v element. That takes you down to 1375W. I'm using the 1650W element with a pump and have no...

Market Research - What do you need, but can't build?

Circular heating elements similar to the new Blichmann Boil Coil without the Blichmann high price. The standard water heater elements position in the middle of the kettle limit using other equipment like a Hop Stopper, immersion chiller, etc. Electric brewing equipment and small batch...

    What about an E-STOP button?

I just finished a 120V build using the Auber box. I did not incorporate an E-stop button as the box is small and the power buttons are easily accessible. Most electrical problems will occur too fast to react to. That is why we use circuit breakers and GFCI. If the element or pump...

    Contactor Question

I think you are misunderstanding 240v. Current flows from one leg thru the element and thru the other leg. If the SSR is off there is no current flow and therefore no power. With the SSR off there is a 120v potential to ground at any point in the circuit which may be what you were thinking.

Electrical Diagram feedback for a 50A HERMS Build

I'll do that. I'm always willing to improve my understanding. Here's something to improve yours. I am an Industrial Controls Tech. I maintain, repair and upgrade control systems like these every day. I showed your E-stop circuit to our Electrical Design Engineering group...

Electrical Diagram feedback for a 50A HERMS Build

I agree with lschiavo. Using a safety device as a control is a poor practice. Doesn't seem to be much different than jamming needle nose pliers into an outlet to trip a breaker so you can work safely on the circuit. Also (and I am not a licensed electrician so my interpretation may be...

    Mark 2 Keg Washer

I picked one up as well. I cleaned several corny kegs and two 6.5 gallon carboys without any stability issues. As Mark stated, once the parts snap together it is very solid. Add another happy customer.

Oops. Completely missed the selector switch.

    Critique my e-brewing Schematic

I see a couple of issues. 1. The E-stop circuit is a poor design. You should never use a safety like the GFCI for part of your control circuit. A better way to do it would be to put the E-stop switch between the key switch and the coil of your first relay/contactor. 2. You have the...
