    Sharing the wort

Here's what I'm brewing tomorrow. What do you think about my hopping schedule? Cascade pale http://hopville.com/recipe/1391771/american-pale-ale-recipes/cascade-pale-ale Chinook pale http://hopville.com/recipe/1392088/american-pale-ale-recipes/chinook-pale-ale

    Sharing the wort

Seperate beers. I'll post my recipes later when I'm not on my phone. I found some rye oatmeal at the grocery store that I want to try out. So leaning towards that. Do you think the WLP001 cause the hops to over power the rye?

    Sharing the wort

I'm planning on collecting enough wort for two three gallon batches and boiling them side by side with maybe 30 minutes difference for cooling. My ideas so far are: APA and CDA (cold steeping dark grains over night and adding to boil) Rye PA and Rye IPA Witbier and white IPA I'd like to...

    Oatmeal IPA

Oh yeah. My OG was 1.071 so with a FG this high it's a bit more drinkable. It tastes good so I'm going to dry hop now. I'm just curious if the oats add gravity points or if it's more of a perceived body/mouthfeel.

    Oatmeal IPA

I used a starter with WLP001. But I think I found my problem, I checked my thermometer yesterday and I boiled water @ 205 @ 500ft above sea level. So my mash at 152 looks more like 155-157

    Alt fermentation stalled.

What about adding some yeast when I rack my IPA? It's WLP001 buy I'm not incredibly worried about this beer. My wife wanted to brew it.

    Alt fermentation stalled.

I added another smack pack, and nothing. I'm thinking I should of made a starter. Any other suggestions?

    Oatmeal IPA

Well it's been a week and a half since I brewed this. And it's been at 1.020 for a week of that. Do you think the oats would have that big of an influence of the FG? I still have to double check my thermometer to see if I mashed at the temp I thought I did. I have another beer that's stuck at 1.030.

Pitching on to yeast cake but wait there's more!

Thanks for the input. I've decided to let the OIPA sit a little longer. and when it comes time to rack, I'll attempt washing the yeast.

Pitching on to yeast cake but wait there's more!

I'm short on bottles because I have an Alt and OIPA fermenting and a Tripel planned for Home Brew Day.

Pitching on to yeast cake but wait there's more!

I'm about to rack my Oatmeal IPA (OG 1071 65 IBU) I really want to brew again, so I was thinking of fermenting a CDA on the same yeast cake. But here's the catch, it's going to be a 3 gal batch. Mainly cause I don't have the bottles saved up for a full 5 gal and I want to try another CDA. My...

Well I used a smack pack so I was going to just toss in another. Do you think a starter is necisarry?

    Alt fermentation stalled.

I have roused the yeast, before I racked and after racking. The temp is now in the mid 70's and has been for about a week. I mashed @152 and used no crystal. I didn't aerate with an oxygen stone or anything, just shook it like I always do. Grist was pilsen, Munich, wheat, caraMunich, carapils...

    Oatmeal IPA

Just brewed an oatmeal IPA, and am really psyched about it! In alphabetical order: Cascade, Chinook, Columbus, Palisades, and Willamette. 3oz of hops at 5min and another 3oz ready for dry hopping. I'm hoping for something like Fort George OPA. 10.5 lb 2 row 1 lb flaked oats 0.5 lb CaraVienne...

    Alt fermentation stalled.

So I brewed an Eight Mile Alt clone according to Can You Brew It. only difference is I used Wyeast 1010. My OG was 1050. I made a starter, pitched the yeast around 68-70. I kept the carboy in the garage where the temp got down to high 50's or low 60's. It was still really active, VERY pils-y...

    Zwickelmania - Portland, OR - Feb 13th

How about a bump for this year. Any suggestions where to go. I did Widmer, Breakside, Lompoc, and Upright last year. I really want to hit up HUB this year.

    active yeast starter?

Never had a yeast starter do this. Is it infected or just active? Goes from no foam to tons after a slight shake. Thanks.

    Black Double IPA?

I'd let the 1056 do their thing. I did a CDA with light LME. You want a little roastedness but not too much. And I've read carafa III is practically a requirement for CDAs. As are hops from the Cascadian region.

    Maple Bacon Porter

What about faking the bacon? Smoke some malt over hickory. I bought a bottle of Bakon and I really liked it. You could use that if you didn't want to make your own. I did end up making my own, I cooked the bacon in a pan until it was crispy, then just tossed a few strips in the vodka and let it...

    Holiday Bourbon Ale Recipe

A quick google search for "holiday beer recipe extract" brought this up. http://www.brew-dudes.com/holiday-ale-recipe/111 I don't have two months to age (I'd like to be drinking while opening gifts) so any suggestions? Less hard A?
