    Simcoe test

I brewed a 4 gallon batch today of IPA using Simcoe (and lots of it... Thx Brewiz :mug: ) and had to call my Homebrew Sensei Brewiz and asked about how to finish it out. He suggested Cascade so I threw in a nice handful at 10 mins before flame out. The false bottom he gave me can't be...

    Hopus-Maximus

I did a AG batch tonight with more Centennial and Warrior hops than I can remember. My false bottom looked like it was caught in a hop blizzard! This is a HG brew and Brewiz was here to help me and shoot the "suds". The IBU's better be thru the roof! Damn... What a great brew -...

    Warrior Hops and "Falsies"

I just got done using my new false bottom and my first brew with Warrior hops. I did my favorite #15 of grain - 5 Gallon HG IPA with 1.5 oz's of Warrior and about 1.5 oz's of Cascade. Brewiz :rockin: hooked my up with the false bottom and it is the goods. Perfect filtering and some...

Just Brewed - And hit a snag

I had my 1st oops! 2 hop sacks broke out of 4 in the wort - whole leaf hops everywhere, it clogged my brew kettle, I had to use the auto syphon to go on top of my yeast cake and I finished at 1.078 SG at 75 degrees. I kept telling myself, relax and have another homebrew :drunk: Well, all...

    Kegged my first AG

I kegged it last night at 30 psi Co2 - I have since dropped it to 17 psi - FG was 1.014 and it tastes great - it will be a great session beer - I have been giving it the "hurry-up-already" o2 shakes. I transferred my Wheat brew this morning and it started at 1.056 and FG was 1.010 - SWMBO said...

    Strawberry Brew Recipe Advice

I want to do an AG Strawberry brew for SWMBO - I want to use 2-row and Strawberry puree - Has anyone done a brew similar to this? I know you want to add the "fruit" either in the primary Ferm or the 2ndry Ferm... But how much "fruit" for a 5 gal batch - and is Primary -or- 2ndary better...

    The Kegorator is almost done

I just got the 3 gallon Corny kegs via the Brown Santa (UPS). The Co2 tank is filled, I have the regulator, quick connects and the tap, now I just need to wait for this to finish (about 2.5 weeks to go on the 2ndary) :rockin: So I can keg it and put it in this :ban: And pull off...

2nd All Grain Batch in the Carboy

I did my 2nd all grain brew today - it went really smooth and since I went on top of the cake from the batch I just transferred, it started fermenting in about 15 minutes. I pulled off about 2 cups of the yeast and have that in a mason jar in my keg fridge, just waiting for the 3rd brew coming...

I did my first brew ever today - an all grain 5 gallon batch sparge brew - Brewiz and I have done quite a few brews at his house, but I just had to get my own setup and get busy brewing - Everything went great and we were done in 4.5 hours. I plan to go right on top of my current primary next...
