Anyone haerd of these new Yeasts from Mangrove Jack's (New Zealand)

Which shop in Omaha? I would be willing to give some a try. I could split between a couple of 3 gal fermenters and ferment at different temps. Andrew

My cold plate uses the 1/4mfl X 3/8 mfl. Make sure to uses the plastic seals on both sides or end up with beer in the jockey box. Cheers!

10 gallon cooler SS False Bottom Round Up

Here's what I'm currently using from Adventures in Homebrewing. I was previously using a standard perforated false bottom but ended up with a lot of stuck mashes. I decided to use this FB after reading a few reviews. I used this for the first time last weekend with a wheat beer. 4lbs 2 row & 4...

    Leftover grains

Check out ritebrew.com. They sell by the ounce or the pound. You also get a discount when buying more than 10lbs of the same grain. You can setup grain bills so that all the grains for your brew can be mixed and milled together. Also, if you are in the upper midwest you can use Spee-Dee...

    Can I salvage this manifold?

What gas fittings did you buy from Ritebrew? Looking at their website, only the regulator has a 3/8" barb. They state that 5/16" tubing will fit over the barb or you can swap out the input on the manifold to the 1/4" mpt x 3/8" barb. Then run 1/4" tubing from the valves to the ball/pinlock...

Controlling flow...alternatives to long lines or swizzle sticks

In soda dispensing setups, they use an 1/8 id hose connected to 3/16 MFLs. If you can find the smaller id tubing, you would be able to shorten the run. I'm currently out of town but will post a picture of an MFL with the smaller tubing connected. Had several cold plates that were given to me...

    Wiring Switch help

You are correct. Green is NO & Red in NC? The gray block is the connection for the led. The auction listing is for a 24v AC/DC supply for the led. Do you plan on switching a transformer on and off with whatever you are controlling to power the led? Andrew

    SSR latching?

I have this same issue with my HLT. I have tried several SSRs. They all do this as well. Mine are rated for 60 amps and is controlling 5500w element. I have to cycle the power to get them to release. What I have noticed with mine is how hot they get. I'm thinking of installing a fan on the heat...

    Kal Clone for Small Batches

I've been thinking about how to do this as well. I'm thinking of building a smaller BK with a 110v element. I can unplug the larger BK and plug in the smaller BK. Wire up the 110v element to the same plug that will connect to your panel. The plug only needs the hot wire controlled by the SSR...

    herms coil help

A couple of options that I can think of and maybe someone else has another suggestion are: 1. Install a 45 degree swaglok 2. Add a nipple and coupler to extend your current swaglok further into the keg.

    Was gonna go propane, but...

I have to agree with everyone in regards to wiring the control panel. There is plenty of info buried here in the forums as well as Kal's site. I just completed mine and spent around $500 to build. I still have the LT and kettle from my propane setup so I can travel. As for which is better, I...

    Double Trouble Electric HERMS Brewery

The server case side slide off going towards the front. I had to modify it to allow removal to the rear, otherwise I would have to remove the panel everytime to gain access. Also with server towers there is a lot of metal that held multiple fans and hard drives(8). The biggest issue I have with...

    is this infected?

It looks fine to me. What yeast did you use? I have had several batches that make you wonder.

    Double Trouble Electric HERMS Brewery

Ya it's a computer case, it is temporary until I can fabricate an enclosure. First brew went well, the only hiccup was the MT. Thought I had undershot my initial temp but grabbed my thermometer. The TC showing 140, thermometer was 148. Mixed the mash some more and was able to make the TC...

    Double Trouble Electric HERMS Brewery

I thought I would show of my hard work. I would like to thank Kal for inspiring me. Without his website I would have fumbled through trail and error to make it work. :rockin: I also have a 10 gallon cooler for bigger beers.(not shown) This will be my second brew rig. The other is a make...

Am I crazy to use these bottles?

You might want to consider the fact that these will balloon outward on the sides when under pressure. They will definitely hold the pressure. Had one I left on outside in the sun with a small amount of gas in it when working on a mower.
