Ok, I bought the Munton's Bitter IPA kit just to fill out my cart.
I have left over from previous brews:
3 lbs of LDME
1 oz of Magnum Hops
Safale US-05 yeast
Help me add these for the best possible beer.
Was thinking of a slow hops add over the course of the boil?
Add all 3 lbs? Boil time...
Tonight is the first night I am getting drunk exclusively off of my first batch.
It's the Midwest Cream Ale and it is good. I handed out 6 at work to different people cause I am really proud of this one.
Thanks again
I ordered the SNPA clone from Midwest but accidentally got the munton's yeast. How bad is that yeast? I am thinking about making a run to my " lhbs" for yeast and a few other things. But it is like 50 miles away. They only have s-04 yeast. They are called liquid hobby out of Columbia sc. Can...
They have these at Walmart for 10 bucks. It's #2 plastic, BPA free.

For a primary? Drill out a spot up top for an airlock, Has a spigot, and a regular cap.
I did this one today, followed it spot on.

Had a boil over on the late dme addition.
Gravity was 1.070. That is way off. I took the gravity after I aerated and pitched cause I forgot.
Any ideas? This is my second batch.
I have 5 Gals of Cream Ale in my primary.
I want to bottle 1/2 and then add raspberry extract to the rest. How much extract in 2 1/2 Gals of Cream Ale. I want to be able to taste the raspberry flavor.
Thanks

I ordered everything I need to make a Hefeweizen, but forgot piming sugar. I really don't want to have to order just sugar, and my LHBS is like 50 miles away. Is there a good alternative? I will have some DME left over, is there anything else that would work, or just use the dme?
Can you carbonate beer in a Champagne bottle, if you have the plastic corks and wire to lock it down? I wanted to maybe do one champagne bottle of each brew to save for a later date.
Can someone point me to a ginger beer recipe that does not call for DME? I have a pretty big piece of ginger, a lemon, many packets of yeast (munton's, coopers, champagne). I would like to get a gallon going but I am having a hard time finding one.
So, I completed my first batch of beer last night. I did a Cream Ale. It's bubbling away right now. Just got to keep my damned hands off the airlock.
N00b worries I guess. :drunk:
This is my first post also, I lurked for a while. Thanks to everyone for all the tips. This forum is awesome...
