    2013 NHC first round results?

My Denver score sheets showed up in the mail today. On the cover sheets, some of the places were marked 1, 2, 3, etc. Some marked DNA and some with the place awarded space left blank. I'm waiting for the official AHA results to be posted before I re-brew anything.

    2013 NHC first round results?

It is my understanding that the winners are usually announced on site when the judging is complete. This practice might give a little re-brew heads up advantage to those who volunteer to judge and steward. I don't have a problem with that.

    First!

Hey Fifthcircle, I'm in SW Lincoln too, there must me something in the water out there. Come to a Lager meeting and you will find out what I mean. Speaking of Lager meetings, next one is tomorrow night at Zip Line Brewing, right in the neighborhood. Cheers, Tim

Vienna / Victory Malt, what's the difference?

Update: I poured this beer at a festival, it was well received and went fast. The extra Victory added quite a bit of body, turned out to be a pretty well rounded Pale Ale, I would brew it that way again. Cheers.

Vienna / Victory Malt, what's the difference?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm hoping for a happy accident, for sure will be an opportunity to learn something. I like the blending idea. I just happened to have a couple of finished IPA's on tap that seems to me to be missing a malt backbone. Looking forward playing around with blending...

Vienna / Victory Malt, what's the difference?

So I brewed a 10 gallon batch of all Cascade APA on Christmas day. The recipe called for 17# of 2 row, 5# of Vienna and a pound of Victory malt. As I weigh out the grains I'm looking through my stash and can't find the Victory, so I just blow it off. While running off to the kettle, I...

    Coffee beans in the secondary

Get the best espresso beans you can find from your local coffee roaster. I add 1/4 pound of coarse grind after 2 weeks of primary fermentation, leave on the grounds for another 2 weeks then cold crash. No need to worry about sanitizing as alcohol is present. The quality of the ingredients you...

    Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout

Time will make it better. I thought my espresso porter was the worst beer I ever brewed, at first... Sat on 4 oz ground coffee in secondary for 3 weeks. It was very bitter from the coffee, almost undrinkable. After a couple months in the keg, hooked to the tap, the bitterness is gone, it it...

For Sale: set of 4 ball lock kegs

Yes, it was a joke, gotta admit I'm surprised by all the comments who took it seriously. Thanks to those of you who got the joke and enjoyed a laugh or two. So I was at the drags last week and saw they were using soda kegs as a vessel for their VHT traction compound spray rig. Seemed to...

Wanted: Looking for cheap laser cutting & forming

I'm curious, what kind of price were you quoted? I'm sure you already know, but a new laser cutting machine sells for between $600K up to 1M plus, not to mention the building and people. Even a small amount of access can cost serious $ as you found out. That said, I'd like to help out a...

How long does a 5lb co2 bottle last for kegs?

At my local welding supply it's $20 to fill a 5,10 or 20 lb tank, I guess they see it as a service. I have 2 kegerators each with a 5 lb tank, I just fill those off my 20 pounder by freezing the small tank, hooking up the transfer fittings, invert the 20 and open the valves. I also have a...

Air bubbles forming in all my beer lines? CO2?

Obviously you need to flush out the beer lines more frequently, I'd suggest you pull at least a pint out of each tap daily. After 4 pints you won't care about the bubbles any more...

When to switch to all grain

Cake. I like to brew 2 all grain batches on my brew day as I enjoy multi tasking when many of the operations overlap. For example, while mashing batch #1 I heat the strike water for batch #2. When batch #1 begins to boil I usually have batch #2 doughed in. With the overlaping operations it...
