    Zero Fermentation

I'm pretty bummed about my latest brew. I brewed a Stella clone last Sunday, my 3rd extract brew, and have seen absolutely no signs of fermentation. I was patient this week thinking that it could take up to 72 hours to start but no go. The yeast I used was White Labs Czech Budejovice Lager...

Anyone taste their beer before bottling?

I bottled a Belgian Hefe tonight and was filling the last of my bottles when I ran out of brew to put into the last bottle. It smelled really good with a combination of nuts and a slight banana scent. I swigged some and just swished it around my mouth for a few seconds before spitting it out...

Free Keg with 1 Gallon of Pop Tops???

I've heard this rumor around but have you guys ever done it or heard about it? If you fill a 1 gallon jug with pop tops some liquor stores will give you a free keg.

Tasted Beer 5 Days After Bottling

The usual time to wait to taste is three weeks I guess. I couldn't wait and tried my brew today only 5 days after bottling. It didn't taste very good. I was brewing a Fat Tire Clone and it tasted a little like a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Will the taste change as the beer ages in the next 2 1/2...

    Sampling Brew

I just recently bottled 46 beers into 12 oz beer bottles but had a little left over so I put it into a 2 Liter Sprite bottle. If I crack the Sprite bottle after a week to take a swig, will that hurt the carbonation?

    Low On Bottles

    Primary to Secondary

Ok so my first brew has been fermenting away for the last 5.5 days. It now bubbles like once a minute or so. Is that a good thing or a bad thing or is it different for every beer. How do I properly transfer my brew from the primary to the secondary carboy and why is it necessary? Also Can the...

    Brewed Tonight!!! Dumping into Primary

So I brewed my first beer tonight. Woohooo :ban: After chilling my wort to around 80F I was ready to dump it into my primary. I have a giant strainer that I used to cover my primary bucket. It accumulated a bunch of beer gunk on it. Is this normal? Did I do this step right?:mug:

About to Brew!! Lots of Questions!!

Ok so before I begin it seems that there could be about a million things that could go wrong in one of the many steps in the brewing process. I just recently purchased a brew kit from AustinHomeBrew. I bought the Fat Tire Amber Ale (Extract) Kit that I will attempt for my first brew. Ok...

    Will This Brew Kit Do?

I've doing a lot of research lately and like AustinHomeBrew and their 6.99 shipping. I found this Kit which looks good to me. As far as the glass upgrade is that something I should do? I would also like to brew this Beer. Would this kit brew this beer fairly well?

    Ordering Recipe Kits

I wanted to order a recipe kit from AustinHomeBrew and when I went to do so it has all of these extras such as: additional yeast, an ice pack, yeast fuel, an alcohol boost, and priming sugar. I can guess as to what the alcohol boost does. They recommend a certain yeast for this, is it going to...

    Fat Tire Amber Ale Clone

Several years ago I was fortunate enough to spend an entire year in beautiful Colorado with micro breweries plentiful. I first sampled Fat Tire and have grown to love this beer although some consider it "bad". I love it. Unfortunately, I am in GA and New Belgium doesn't ship their products...
