Ball Lock gas in connector won't come off

I did the same thing when I was in a hurry to hook things up and put the in line on the out of the keg. I just made sure the sleeve was up and slowly wiggled it back and forth and not up and down. It SLOWLY worked it way off. Do no use a lot of force.

Needs suggestions on this "illegal" Blonde ale

Stay away from the white part of the oranges it will give a sour/bitter taste that can take over your beer. I learned this the hard way, the beer was not undrinkable but pretty close.

    dry hop question

I would not worry about it. All the hassle of dealing with a little bit of hops particle isn't a big deal if you and your buddies are going to be drinking it. I usually do not get to much sucked up anyway. I am kegging now and just let the beer sit in the keg for a few days and the first glass...

How long does Wyeast Activator yeast stay good?

Make a starter and give it a couple of extra days. I might do a step starter where you keep adding in extra starter solution every day. It will help the yeast stay in reproduction as opposed to fermentation. But if you got the pack to inflate a normal starter will probably work.

When to toss out a bottle?

Soak them with a stronger bleach mix. Then rinse them EXTREMELY well. You do not want any bleach lingering around. I usually rinse about 3-4 times to get it all out.

    Yeast havesting

I have only been harvesting from my primary. I usually transfer after about 1-2 weeks. I thought you did not want to sit on the yeast cake longer then you had to. How long would you recommend to let it sit. Thanks for the response

    Yeast havesting

I have been washing my yeast and it have been going fine but I was wondering when I should transfer to the secondary to get a decent amount of yeast. I usually have been waiting about 2 days after there is little to no activity on the air lock. My Gravity reading is usually with in 90-95% of...

    Sourcing Oak for a Stout

No, the scrap is full of chemicals. I worked at in high school a company that treated wood for the big companies. They would soak the oak in chemicals to dry it out quickly. It was not kiln dried. I am not sure what was in it but it could not have been good. I would find some real trees or...

    General Ale yeast

I finally got a kegerator now and like to just keep some basic ales on tap for my friends that think Miller Lite is a premium beer. I just make basic pale and amber ales for them and try to slowly condition them into other beers :) I was just looking for a yeast that would be good all around...
