Do you really need containers as large as 45 gallons?

I may try the container method because I really want to try this and I don't want to wait 2-3 years before doing so. My only concern is what if I sell my house say during the Spring or Summer months after the hop vines have begun to grow. What do I do then? It would be some sight with me trying...

Iam brewing a SF style Pale Ale. The directions recommend transferring the beer to a secondary fermenter. Is this really necessary? Can I just let it sit in the carboy an extra day or two and then bottle? Thanks

Thanks. I was leaning towards not adding more water. Its very hoppy so maybe a smaller batch is better.

I have the same problem too. The krausen is at the top and a lot of foam is blowing through the airlock and bubbling out. I have taken the airlock out about a dozen times since Sunday to clean it out and then put it back in. I guess I have a good ferment going too. From everything I have read I...
