    Cheesy taste. Not from hops

I have a tried and true Berliner I have done over the years with Philly Sour. No hops in the boil. Nothing changed in my process but this time the finished product had an odd smell and taste that I’m describing as cheesy. Every Philly Sour has been excellent up until now. Grain tastes fine...

    Recommendation for 220v power controller

My Blichmann power controller that I use for my boil pot has died. Blichmann very graciously tried to help, but they don’t support that anymore. What would you recommend as a replacement? I use a brew commander for the mash but need a basic adjustable power controller for the boil pot. Thanks.

Replacing lactose with a different sugar.

I think I came out with a question that hasn’t already been asked on this forum! I didn’t think it was possible. As expensive as lactose is, if I added Camden and potassium sorbate after fermentation to inhibit further yeast production, what’s the downside to adding brown sugar instead of lactose?

Stainless steel table without a top

Has anyone come across a stainless steel work table without a top? I intend to get the unfinished butcher block tops from Home Depot and finish and seal it, then add it to the top of a SS base for a work surface and a second as a brew stand. Thanks for any help.

Corona mill crush is a mix of flour and uncrushed kernals

Corona mill is attached to a drill. No fixed RPM, I just try to run it as slow as I can, manually. The results are flour AND whole kernels. I have completely taken it apart and put it back together. I'm stumped. Any ideas? Thanks.

What extract flavoring brands do you use?

There are a lot of recipes that call for flavorings, but other than Loranns watermelon, I haven't found a flavoring that doesn't negatively impact the final beer. I know there a lot of commercial breweries that use flavorings in their recipe but never are made public. (I'm looking at you...

Help select a new Ace Hardware drill, please

Today there is a groupon for the local Ace Hardware. I can get $60 for $30. My current corded drill is on its last leg when I crush my grain.
