When you are shopping for a new house and SHMBO looks around in the basement and suggests locations for the placing the keezer before the couch or TV.

    Where to buy two hearted

Personal experience is absolutely everywhere. Then again I live in Michigan so a typical dive bar 6 beer tap set up is bud, bud light, miller, miller light, coors, and two hearted.

How does everyone plan their brew schedule?

I tried to put together a timetable that accommodated when my carboys were free and when things would be drinkable. It overwhelmed me. So bought more carboys now I just say OK I want a spiced ale for Christmas. It will take say 4 months to age so I need to brew it in august so it is ready in...

    Mostly dry flat cider help

I have been reading the cider forum multiple days multiple hours and I am still utterly confused. Too many choices it seems The wife has charged me with making her a cider. She just purchased me 4.5 gallons of unpasturised, no preservative fresh cider froma spring press at the local cider...

    Stalled fermentation or done?

Not sure what's going on. The beer is a Honey Amber extract brew with specialy grains 2.5 lbs of steeping grains 6.6 lbs of LME and 1 pound of Honey as teh fermentable matter. OG 1066 per the recipe and damn close on brewday. FG is 1012 per the kit's directions. So my situation: In...

Easiest labels to remove (New Belgium gets my vote!)

I agree with New Belgum, and will add Dogfishhead and, Bells.. At least in what I drink dogfishhead is the easiest as is has only one label, whereas bells has 3. So Bells has the most to pick up off the bottom of the soak tub.

What are the cheapest reusable commercial beer bottles you know of?

Same here but they are damn tasty. Well not really fan of those you listed but Shorts, ABC, and others. I trade my bottles with friends Bells bottle or buy them outright. The Bell's labels just fall right off in water.

    Measuring & Controlling Fermentation Temperature

My temps fluctuate in great ale temps 62 to 68, but if I can make it better by adding a few gallons of water to the 'shelf' I ferment on why not. Looks like i can only fit one container so primary it is.

    Measuring & Controlling Fermentation Temperature

Resurrection of an ancient thread, but seemed the best in my search. From what I gather even though I ferment in my basement, which fluctuates a few degrees. I Just so happen to ferment in a nice protected spot which just so happens to be in a laundry sink that never gets used. I should fill the...

    Ready for secondary?

Really cause I'm brewing my 1st kit and it calls for over 2 months before bottling 7-10 days in primary, and 2 months in secondary with the dry hops. The style is an IPA. Kit direction say rack to secondary when gravity is within a few points of final usually 7-10 days. Airlock was going...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Wort temp at yeast pitching was probably more like 55. The thermometer was still moving but slowly so I don't know exact temp. The basement temp is low 60s so it should reach that ambient temp later today if not already and then rise to mid to upper 60 with fermentation. 65ish in the...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

1st batch is happily fermenting in basement. :rockin: Based on my many hours reading here I totally ignored the Mr Beer directions on most levels. Ended up using a pound of light DME instead of the booster in the west coast pale ale. Decided to boil it in about gallon of water and then drop...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

If substituting some dry malt extract for the booster in Mr Beer kit how long do you have to boil it? the Mr Beer directions say just until the booster is dissolved. thn pull from heat and add the HME For my 1st batch I want to keep it kind of simple. And skip the whole full boil for an hour...
