    No 2013 BUZZ OFF Competition

2013 BUZZ OFF Update: It is my unfortunate duty to report that we have decided to forgo this years' BUZZ OFF competition. This decision was not reached lightly, nor are we happy to do so, but the logistics of our situation and calendar have left us no choice. Multiple factors contributed to...

    Buzz off competition

All beer will be treated equally. I'll have to check with the lead coordinator, but I believe they are all stored at room temp until about 3 days before the event when they are all place into a walk-in cooler. Some categories will be judged Friday evening (6/1) and the rest on 6/2. We have to...

    Buzz off competition

With the number of entries that we receive (400+), emailing out a confirmation would be difficult to do. If you dropped of your entry at a shop, then it will be fine (as should those through other means). Do note that if we receive any broken entries, we will contact you per the info on your...

No, the drop off locations do not have cold storage for the competition entries. In my experience, this is generally not the case for most competition drop-offs. Typically, the entries will be held/stored at room temperature until 3 to 4 days before the competition and then they are put into...

    Buzz off competition

2 weeks is pretty standard for these competitions. There is a lot involved in those 2 weeks leading up to the competition. In the BUZZ OFF we regularly get 400+ entries. Entries get picked up from the drop off/mail in locations, we inventory all entries, transport them to the judging...

    San Fran/Sonoma Musts?

The wife just surprised me with a trip to San Francisco/Sonoma for my birthday coming up in early March. :ban: Planning to hit 21st Amendment, Anchor, Bear Republic, Russian River, and Lagunitas. Are there any other must sees/visits in the area (beer related or not)? Definitely looking for...

What do you use for Primary Fermentation?

10 gallon cornies. Great for fermenting and then transferring under pressure. Got a couple off of CL last year.

    Searching Craigslist

I use SearchTempest. It lets you search multiple areas/regions on CL at one time and will give you an RSS link for it. I have it go right to my Google Reader feeds so I get updates any time posts with my keywords come up.

    Super attenuation from Brett?

If you used old ale blend, then it's likely not all Brett. Maybe whatever else in the blend drove it down?

    I got a decent buy I think....

Nice find. I got two 10G cornies on CL a few months back as well (same price as you) and I love them. Great primaries for my 5G batches! I'm kinda jealous I didn't catch that CL listing since your not that far from me. I would like to have another one or two.

    Building the BrewShelf

I am thinking about doing exactly this, with the same shelf. The cost and flexibility a definitely attractive. Please post any mods you make along the way. I am concerned about the grates holding up over time, but I was thinking it would be easy enough to cut out sections and add pieces where...
