    cold crash

I tried my first cold crash and everything I have read says to crash it for 24 to 72 hrs. After fermentation I put it in a temp controlled fridge around 38 degrees and accidentally left it for a week and a half and now the beer has been in bottles for three weeks and have little to no...

    should I dump my brew.....

Has anyone on here waited over a year then dumped a batch? I have a tripel that has been bottled for a year and a month and it has only gotten a little better. Has anyone had luck waiting just a little longer or should I just suck it up and dump it? A very sad subject I know, but I sure...

    grains online

I am from Colorado and my LHBS is selling a 50lb bag of two row for 50 dollars. Is there a place online to get them cheaper? Is 50 dollars an average cost?

    wholly cow..its still bubbling

I brewed a belgian trippel about 2 1/2 weeks ago and it is still active in the fermenter and not looking to stop any time soon. The recipe is as follows: 7lbs lme (supposed to be 6...whoops!) 14oz. Pale malt (steeped) 1.0lb munich malt (steeped) 2.0oz victory malt (steeped) 2.5lbs cane...

    Gallons per boil

I just picked up the ingrediants for my next brew and noticed that it had a boil of 3 gallons. My question is that I like to do full 5-6 gallon boils for a few reasons and I am curious if I deviate from this, what will be the consequences?

    just a refresher

I brewed a Stone IPA clone and it went crazy in the fermenter for 5 1/2 days. On the 6th day I went to take a look at the progress and noticed little pools of yeast colored blobs on the top. So just as a refresher of what I have read in the past I am assuming that these are in fact just yeasties...

    Movin on up!

I have done a couple of kits now and I believe I am ready to do a recipe. For my first recipe I am doing an AG Stone IPA clone recipe that has been converted to an extract recipe. The recipe calls for 8#LME,1/2 lb of crystal malt 10L and 12 lb of crystal malt 20L. In the past I have steeped the...

    high hydrometer reading

I bottled my second batch of homebrew a week ago and I can't stop thinking about my hydrometer reading when I bottled it. I did a Brewers Best Oktoberfest kit and hit the O.G right on at 1.056 and when I bottled my reading was supposed to be around 1.016 and I ended up at 1.02. The 1.02 reading...
