Anyone know where to get some Riwaka hops?

Motueka and Wa-iti are both nice hops but nothing like Riwaka. The rest are pretty meh. Riwaka is popular because it is unique and well worth trying to find. I have purchased from several sources but most recently BrewShop.co.nz. I am in Australia so had them shipped here and they arrived well...

Anyone know where to get some Riwaka hops?

Riwaka are nothing like Saaz. They are potent clean citrus, I would say close to centennial/cascade combo but cleaner without the earthy finish I always seem to get from centennial. Riwaka/Citra combo is my favourite for AA/APA.

    American Amber Help

The famous Jamil Evil Twin recipe uses 1/2lb crystal 120L, very similar to Special B. 6oz will contribute colour and subtle flavour.

    American Amber Help

    For 5gal I would use 10oz of 60L and 6oz of special B and mash at 154F.

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

    Yes they are.

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

Yes very sure and Selecthops should know too. I think Hop Products Australia (HPA) would be very unimpressed with that packaging. The best way to use Galaxy is similar to the way you would use Citra. It is very a very potent, high oil hop so is great by itself. If you use it with other hops...

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

Maybe put your complaint direct to Selecthops rather than LHBS and at the same time ask them why they have labelled them ''product of New Zealand'' when Galaxy is a proprietory hop grown exclusively on a few farms only in Australia.

    Favorite pairings with Motueka

I brewed a beer similar to Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest Ale. It was a combo of Motueka and Southern Cross that turned out really good.

2015 New zealand/Aussie hops release in US

Yes they are a bit but really only adds a few dollars to a whole brew when compared to the price of your locally grown hops. It comes down to how important one particular hop variety is to you. I love Citra and will pay anything for it. We pay that sort of price for all our hops here in...

2015 New zealand/Aussie hops release in US

Yakima Valley Hops now have 2015 Nelson pellets if you haven't already found them somewhere else.

    Munich Malt recipes

Jamil's Munich Dunkel recipe from Brewing Classic Styles is good. 96% Munich Malt 4% carafa special 2 It will need to be fermented as a lager though not an ale.

    Stone's odd Pale Recipe?

This is the same recipe provided in the book " The Craft Of Stone Brewing Co " released four years ago. It explains in the book that the beer started as a home brew recipe and with this much crystal it is not a typical pale ale but that was the way they liked the beer and it has never been...

Brown Porter -- I want to use more brown malt

I like brown malt a lot and have used up to 15% in a Brown Porter but found it a bit much. I have settled on 10%. Brew it with 13% then decide if you want slightly more or less next time. It is a unique malt and can get some strange comments in comps from judges that have not used it or...

    NZ hops in the USA

I believe SN Southern Hemisphere Harverst Ale uses NZ Southern Cross and Motueka flowers so it is not impossible to get them into the US These would come from NZ Hops as they run a single desk selling system for all hops produced in NZ. NZ Hops have a very tight distribution network and do...

    Dry Hopping an Amber Ale

I dry hop my AAA with 1oz cascade and .5oz of citra but I also use those same hops in the boil. It depends a bit which hops and what amounts you have already used.

    Thoughts on an APA

If I had only these hops to work with I would do .5 oz each citra & chinook @ 10min from end of boil .5 oz each citra & chinook @ flameout bitter to 40ibu total with simcoe and any simcoe left throw in at flameout as well.

    APA critique

Because it gives great flavour and aroma but being boiled for 25min most of that will be lost ,particularly the aroma contribution. The typical ratio I would use is .7-.8 so 35-40 ibu for a 1050 OG.

    APA critique

I think the centennial is wasted at 25 min. I would move it to somewhere in the last 10 min. You will be very low on aroma from just 1oz of cascade at flameout. You will need to add at least 1oz of probably centennial to this or do some good dry hopping or aroma will finnish up very low.
