    Think rationally, or disobey SWMBO?..

You can ferment in a kegerator/keezer using a heater strip, neoprene coozy, and aquarium controller.

Brew Files Podcast Ep. 16 - Finding Zen with Randy

When I went to play it I immediately thought, 45 min?!? Wtf, I thought brewfiles was supposed to be short... However, great episode - well worth the time!!

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I've thought about it when AHS was running their $20 5 Gallon Summer Saison. However, I think with the Zymatics efficiency if you do that you'll end up with two batches that you'll likely miss your gravity and IBU on. If you're not quite ready to make your own recipes, I'd just stick to the...

I'd recommend not playing with the Advanced editor until at doing at least one default mash schedule to understand how the Zymatic receives and interprets commands. Also, the advanced editor should be the LAST thing you touch when building a brew session, otherwise if you change something on...

The Delayed Start was a nice addition, and I appreciated the fix to the water amendment section of the recipe crafter.

    Brewing With A New Baby

I've went to 2.5 gallon batches and a Zymatic. 2 of my 5 gallon kegs became fermenters and the rest happily serve only 2.5 gallons. Everyone's happy.

You always need to pass through. It heats using a glycol heat exchanger so if wort isn't passing through it will only heat what is in the exchanger. You definitely don't want that.

Are you doing the 90 minute mashes? Others have found 60 minute mashes don't cut it for the Z. I personally do a 90min mash + 30min mash out.

The best way to do this is by using the keg wand and low pressure. Once running clear, disconnect keg wand and then attach ball lock to serving keg.

I purchased an extra kegseal, but I'm going to shift to using the gas post with a ball lock connector attached to tube, like a blow-off. I use 3g corny for serving. Allows me to transfer w/o worry if I'm a little over on batch size. They're slightly more expensive and harder to come by then 2.5g.

    tilt v.s. brew bug

Thanks for the responses. The biggest benefit I could see from the tilt is fermentation automation based on SG, but it seems like we're not there yet. Otherwise it's something else I have to clean/sanitize. KISS.

    tilt v.s. brew bug

Is it possible to use the tilts SG reading for the fermentation schedule? Ex, when SG=1.046 increase temp to 68.

It sounds like you clicked on a recipe that had already started brewing (top section), versus a recipe that has not kicked off (bottom section)... I would suggest simplifying your process, IMHO, your trying to do too much. I myself have the attention span of a gnat and so work very hard to...

I dont think hops left behind is the issue, although sucks for cleaning. Have you ever ran pellet hop debris through a plate chiller? That's what it looks like they're using for cooling.

That was on cage two, this is three. If you look closely at the top of the photo you can see a sliver of what I assume is cage 2 with hop particulates as well.

I called those hop screens not being fine enough for pellet hops!
