It's limited to 9 pounds of grain and 4.5 (something around this number, can't quite remember) gallons of water, so you can make a larger quantity of a lower gravity beer. I've typically made 3.5 gallon batches of 1.048 wort. We do have a small Facebook group, 424 members now...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks guys. I have all of that on hand and will get working on the blonde. I had good success on the original recipe of the NE IPA, a couple variations with moderate success, but I'd like to develop this beer more. Has anyone had success at getting a similar flavor and mouthfeel without...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Braufessor, I thought I saw your blonde ale recipe somewhere, but can't find it now. Would you be willing to share that? I'd like to try your method.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Well, I just bottled two kegs of variations of this recipe. First one: 4.1 gallon batch Same water chemisty Same grain bill by percentage but scaled to 4.9% OG 1.051 FG 1.014 19 IBU based on just the bittering hops. Wyeast London Ale III 1318 Flame Out = .75 oz. each of Nelson/Amarillo...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Braufessor, would you think if you didn't have the Centennial in there the flavor would come out better? Simcoe/Amarillo are a great combo and I was thinking about hopping this beer with that combo. I'll be pulling off a few growlers of my Nelson/Amarillo and the all Citra beers tonight...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

It looks like pineapple juice. The outdoor light in that picture makes it look a bit darker. I used 100% RO water and adder to achieve Braufessors recommendations.

    What are you drinking now?

Hoes in the Garden, Witbier, brewed on my Picobrew Zymatic.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I put together a recipe based on this and used 7% corn sugar and upped the bittering hops a bit. The other grains were bumped up accordingly but the percentages remained the same of the total grain bill. It hasn't been brewed yet but was planning on it this weekend if all goes well. My IBU of...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Braufessor, what's your method of forced carbonation of these? I'm typically doing 25 psi for two days then backing it off to 10 psi or so for another couple, but am guessing if this is about right the whole time. I'll be bottling my 4.8% Nelson/1318 and the 5.8% Citra/ESB beers on Thursday in...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I used this with this recipe but using all Citra. It's cold crashing now ready to transfer and carbonate.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

So the past few days I've given this beer out to a lot of people, a mix of coworkers, my wife's coworkers, and some guys/gals I met for the first time on Sunday for an event my wife was having. Everyone loved it. From the beer geek to a casual beer drinker, they all were very impressed. One...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I followed everything from the grist, hops, water chemistry, method of transfer between kegs, everything as close as I could. I made a second batch with all Citra and an ESB yeast that'll be ready in a few days. I'll keep posting my variations here.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I finally brewed and kegged this fantastic beer. I followed everything as close as I could and it is hands down the best beer I've ever brewed, and probably top 10 beers I've ever tasted. Thanks Braufessor for all your help and sharing this recipe, it has taken my brewing to the next level. I...

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

Anything can be harvested from bottles/cans and regrown and resold.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I used that technique and it doesn't clog for me. It works really well, and no hop matter is transferred. This is just using gravity drain too, not pressurized transfer.

Anyhowe, put a /A in the end of the link location, something like this: https://anyhowe.smugmug.com/Brewery/i-N2b7X3w/A Just from searching the image location that looks like it should fix it.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Mash temps damn near spot on and it maintains that very well. I don't even worry about it at all. Multi step mashes are extremely easy too.

    My Picobrew Thread

I like using a stir plate for starters. It's always great to know the yeast is happy prior to pitching in the large volume. I had all of the parts to make one, but ended up just buying one for $40 and it came with the magnets. Remember to get a small magnet to use on the outside of your flask...
