    making my first pilsner. pitching question

    So I'm reading this recipe and it says to ferment at 50 degrees.....my question is this, do i pitch at 50 degrees as well or do i pitch at the 65-70 that most beers call for and then stick it in the cooler? And if i do pitch warmer, do i let fermentation begin before i cooler it?

    mash temp ranges and their effects?

    Now i know that lower temps create more fermentable sugars and lead to less body ( unless a carapils type addition is made) and higher temps lend to less fermentable sugars, fuller body and sweetness.....but how much of a change between smashing in at 150ish and say 153-155?     boiling off too much, how to compensate?

    have a mish mash of extra grain...what can i brew?
