If you could invent anything to make your brew day easier, what would you invent? I would invent a device to remind me to set my PID from 211 degrees to 70% after the boil gets rolling. I have no idea why I always forget that.

How much Lactic Acid is too much?

So, a few months back I got my first pH meter. Imagine my surprise when I learned during my first all-grain brew with it that my mash pH was about 6.4. Well, since then I did some reading and starting playing with my malt bill to try to add some acid. No luck. On my last batch I added a...

So, I am in process on my first batch with my new grain mill... I have never milled my own grains before. Suffice it is say the mash was a little sticky. But went okay once I slowed everything way down. The great (or bad depending on ones point of view) was that I really missed my...

    Where to put my holes?

I think I want to drill my keg for the ball valve at four inches up from the very bottom of the keg (or, four inches up from the ground when it is sitting on the floor). For those who have already done this, is a hole up four inches on center the correct hight to work with Wayne's dip tube...

Thoughts on using these containers to ferment test batches

I found these 1.25 gallon Slimline Water Containers at Wally-World (~$4.50 each) and I am thinking about using 5 of them to ferment small one-gallon beers with different dry-hops. My goal is to learn more about how different dry-hops impact flavor/profile so that I can refine an IPA. My...
