    PID Error - orAL -343

Yes, that is the one. The probe is fine as it works with a different cable. In looking at Auber's site last night, i noticed they offer a SS clad cable. I ordered a few of those to replace the bad cable and to give myself a back-up. I guess I will find out in a few days if that solves the...

    If you could...

i like... i could also use a device that measures SG similar to how a digital pH meter works.

    If you could...

If you could invent anything to make your brew day easier, what would you invent? I would invent a device to remind me to set my PID from 211 degrees to 70% after the boil gets rolling. I have no idea why I always forget that.

How much Lactic Acid is too much?

so, i am an idiot... that last time i used it the meter was bang on. I just re-tested it and the calibration was off by .7. That would be the issue. So glad I stopped adding acid when i did. I have the yellow Milwaukee tester from Northern Brewer.

How much Lactic Acid is too much?

So, a few months back I got my first pH meter. Imagine my surprise when I learned during my first all-grain brew with it that my mash pH was about 6.4. Well, since then I did some reading and starting playing with my malt bill to try to add some acid. No luck. On my last batch I added a...

wrong oxyclean: what do i do?

check your water... if you are using city water that may explain the Cl. Try running your water through a cheap activated carbon water filter (a $20 RV filter will attached with garden hose fittings), pre-boiling it, or use bottle spring water (not RO/distilled as will lacks needed minerals).

    Love the new grain mill

I have a 12" SS false bottom that I used to use in my ten-gallon cooler mash tun... now I am using it in a converted keg. I may need something with more surface area.

    Love the new grain mill

Well, I knew it would run a little slower than the crush from my LHBS, but I was surprised how much slower. I set my mill at .035" because that seemed to be the ideal on the posts I read. My LHBS crush would recirculate easily with my ball value open nearly full bore. With the new crush...

    Love the new grain mill

passedpawn, you understand correctly. I just hate to add water to my brew. I'll just call this one a double and re-adjust for my new and improved efficiency next time around.

    Love the new grain mill

So, I am in process on my first batch with my new grain mill... I have never milled my own grains before. Suffice it is say the mash was a little sticky. But went okay once I slowed everything way down. The great (or bad depending on ones point of view) was that I really missed my...
