    Cider Lager

I gave this post this name so I can find it in all the other cider recipe threads. I am trying to make something like a commercial British cider like blackthorn, merrydown, bulmers, etc with shop juice. I read up on the long ashton cider research notes, http://www.cider.org.uk/part1.htm...

    Nelson Savin Lager

I am looking to make a dry NS lager. All the recipes I see are for people who like puckeringly hoppy brews, hop bombs and similar. I am not a fan of IPAs, pilsners and other hoppy overloads but am a huge fan of New Zealand Sauvingnon Blanc and refreshing lager so am looking to make a light...

    Lazy Lager

As temperatures crawl up here in Montreal lager fermenting looks off unless I buy another fridge that can fit a carboy. I noticed that an old starter I never used carried on fermenting in the fridge. Bit slower than normal but not too bad I been monitoring the whiff of the gas to see how clean...

    Like water

Brewing too late at night too close to new years day, put 5 extra liters water into 20L pilsner kit Should I add 25% more sugar or malt or just leave it? I am after saving taste more than anything. Kit said 16l water, kilo sugar (I used dextrose) plus the kit. I put in 21L water. Cheers!

    Good or bad price?

Hating bottling. Attracted by kegging. No idea other than I seem a few years late for the corny kegs. So this is simple compared to ebaying but is it good price? Seems a keg short to me at that price? http://www.cachettedubootlegger.ca/draught8.html

    Twist top bottles

I've been re-using 1.3liter beer bottles. They have metal twist off lids. I think alckies buy them for maximum booze at min price. I boil lids and sanitize and heat treat bottles at 400f and sanitize. The plastic seal seems ok after boiling. I like because they're big, cheap and no-crowning...

    Lagering

Wondering about lagering, (newb), My basement is warming up currently it's 15C (59F) soon it'll be 17C, 63f. Here in Montreal it's still cold at night. 2-5C. (41f and below). I'm thinking to put it outside to lager for a while on underground steps. I think temp fluctuate less but still up and...

    Water in My Beer

So, I was bottling my Triple, (from Kit), when I realised I was a few bottles short. I figured I had mis-measured the dilution by quite a lot (1.5-2 litres short of the suggested 9). So I decided to pour a little bit from each bottle out and topped up with water and made up an extra litre...

    Live Yeast

Is definitely a good buy. Just brewed an ale and a lager using liquid yeasts and a DME starter. The difference in flavour in both is stunning . I will never go back to dried yeast (except for bottling). Immediately you notice that distinctive homebrew aroma is missing, infact the yeast...

    Fermented sorbate makes bad flavor?

Hi I'm from uk cider zone and used to make scrumpy from apples. Due to low availability of free apples here in Quebec I turned to juice from shop to make and apple wine. 1 gall apple juice 1 pound sugar. Pectinase yeast nutrient and some champagne yeast. It's pretty potent but has a very...
