    Tx Brew....

Narcissus and Goldmund made a strong impression on me when I read it as a teenager 40 years ago, it is hard to rule it out as a favorite. I read Steppenwolf last year and was so surprised when it turned like the tide from a schizophrenic dementia story to a love story, what a word smith he is...

    Tx Brew....

i agree with you about Master Ludi, it is difficult to read, but if you read Gravity's Rainbow you can read anything. Fortunately I started reading him 40 years ago, so I had more stamina. I did get a German copy of Master Ludi for a birthday present for a friend born in the old country, it...

Way cool on clearing up for me the flameout and the stipulation that that is 0mins. Interesting, I understand that DME is relatively sanitized but this is new to me adding it and not boiling it for a hour (the 3lbs). Thanks again for your help guys!

    I like my mistake!

I brewed a malt extract Sierra Nevada IPA clone, but was not paying attention to the size of my carboy and used a six gallon one which diluted my recipe when I topped it off. I realized my mistake when I put it in the secondary and it would not fit (5 gal). I ended up calling it LIGHT. Are...

    big tea bag

I love brewing beer! Beersurfer, I live in Alaska, and I got frostbite of the brain a few times so bear with me. You boil your grains in a smaller kettle, then add the remaining water through the grain and then heat that water up, add your malts. So you are not extracting water by...

    big tea bag

Thanx for the comeback beer surfer! Interesting, why 170 water, and does that not add to the quantity to make the five gallons. How does that 170 water affect the rapid cooling?

    big tea bag

When I make tea, I squeeze the liquid out of the bag, how do, or should I do the same for this big tea bag? Or should I not do it and RDWHAHB?

    plop plop

Using the plop plop of the air lock as a reference, how slow should the blub in the lock be to put into the secondary. They have been in primary for weeks. I understand using a hydrometer and gauging it to see no change, but will you still have very intermittent lock action at this point?
