    Fermentation & ABV question

Yikes, 2 weeks is a really long time. Did you ever see any activity, a krausen? Most ales are 70% attenuated within 4 days, based on my experience.

    The FerMonitor Lives

Pretty sure I paid $250 - came with a SG probe and a LabJack and the software. Hoping to ditch the in-laws and get all my gear out to make a batch soon, I will try to remember to post some pics. Sounds like I was pretty lucky to grab one of these when I did!

    The FerMonitor Lives

I will try to make a video or at least some photos next time I brew, hopefully during the holiday break. But, more I think about it, I'm not sure it will show you what you want to see. When you use the probe you only insert it into the wort just after yeast pitch - you don't mess with it again...

    The FerMonitor Lives

I bought one of the SG probes when it was first made available on the website and I can tell you it is not a hoax, mine works really well. But I have only made 2 batches with it so it is sort of early to be giving alot of praise. It is very well put together, stainless steel probe that...

Wyeast smack pack 3944. When I opened the pack it smelled like a delicious Belgian wit and I was hoping my beer would smell the same way. It makes me feel a little better that 944play likes some sulfur in his wit.

    Suflur smelling belgian wit

I am a little worried about a beer I just kegged. I am about to be away for a while and I was afraid to let it go in the fermenter while I was gone. So I went ahead and bottled after 2 weeks in primary. The FG was was 1.008 with no airlock activity. When I opened up the fermenter it had a strong...

    The FerMonitor Lives

Hey jmansfield, Any update on the fermonitor thing? $500 is a bit out of my range - do you think that is still the price range? I found the fermonitor.com website but there is almost nothing there - is this project still alive? I appreciate any info on this, thanks,

    Digital Hydrometer

I am new to homebrewing. On Sunday I broke my hyrometer and cut my hand, blood everywhere, pretty nasty. I googled hydrometer and this thread popped up. I would gladly pay to have something safer and easier to read. Baron, Any progress on this?

    Question for you veterans

This is good info for me too, I am new to this hobby and have made 2 batches. How do I start a thread on this forum - I can't find it?
