"Brutus" Thread - Show us your Brutus!

That's false advertising, your auto spare isn't SS. No more 100% SS rig, either way nice rig!

Can I make this a Brew Hut?

Looks like I'm not the only one that going to have a new brew hut, SWMBO and I just put an offer in on our first house. What sold me was the 12'x24'x9' workshop in the backyard, plumbed with 220 already run to it. Plus the acre of land the house is on, gives Eskie (our dog) enough room to run...

    HP² (Hockey Puck Hop Press)

Exactly like plugs, just hockey puck size. Easy additions, and more compact for storage.

    HP² (Hockey Puck Hop Press)

I had thought of using a long stroke (long ram) bottle jack but wanted to keep things small. Plus the 4.5" lift was enough for what I wanted to accomplish (hop hockey pucks).

    HP² (Hockey Puck Hop Press)

Well here it is, the budget blue print I just made up for a Hockey Puck Hop Press or HP². It's a simple design and not meant for anything but my own enjoyment and minimizing storage of whole hops (once I build it). Also it's probably not very safe, won't know until I build it. Basically make a...

    Making Pellets

I just had a light bulb explode in my head. What about hop "hockey pucks". Basically get a 2-3 inch diameter pipe pack it with hops and use a shop press (inverted jack on a rack) and compress say 1oz into 1 puck? Apparently it's been done already. So much for "my" idea!

Can you hand polish a keg?

I found it at Reliable Parts, it's an appliance repair/parts place. This was after I found that the BKF website listed stores which carry it...

    Well that's no good

We have that stupid ass law here too, not allowed to have a BBQ or Gas grill on a balcony for fire/safety reasons. I think it makes sense, but it's stooopid!

    Finally in the Ground

I think the biggest issue with having them close is not being able to tell which plant is which once it starts growing like crazy. But with lots and lots of trimming daily that may not be an issue?

    Finally in the Ground

Yea, who would have thought hops in a HOP forum! Everything I've read says these plants can have their ass kicked and they still produce. Ill have a beer and pray to the gods for you, and your hops!

MLT conversion - more like perversion

Where did you get the cooler from? How bad is it, could you put it back to original, that doesn't look f***ed and return/exchange it? I know it sounds wrong, but the big box stores can afford to take a $50 hit...

Can you hand polish a keg?

Going to stick out like a sore thumb and say, yes you can. Why? Because doing it by hand doesn't make huge/deep scratches like a grinder would. Which means less sanding/buffing. Maybe I'm just crazy and should shut up until I've had my coffee, but I scrubbed mine down with a Scotch Brite...

    Sanke valve removal help!!!!

I could be completely incorrect but there are 3 or 4 little tabs that lock the valve in. Wish I paid attention to the guy who removed mine when I bought the kegs.

    welded/less mash tun fitting

Did you Tap the SS you welded to the barb or is it basically just a thick washer welded to a barb?

    Needing refrigeration advice

Makes a little more sense now. I saw a video on youtube of a guy who used a 6k BTU air conditioner. its coils routed into a cooler, with a temp control. He was pumping the glycol like ~60' with only a 4 degree drop. Was ugly as sin but that can be worked on. I'll look for the link for you.
