How are you moving it out of secondary? I've never noticed any make it to the kegs. I dry hop in secondary with whole hops and they just float on the top. I use an autosiphon, or if I'm in a bucket, the spigot. I just suck out from under the hops and stop when the hops get down to the drain level.

Almost every dark beef I've ever made had white floaties on the top, usually they show up after I transfer to secondary. I have no idea what they are, but the beers have always tasted great...

I always do 2 oz with pale ale's and IPA's and have never had a problem (other than soaking up twice as much beer...)

You get mixed opinions on this one :) On the one hand, some people say carbing it with corn sugar produces a better beer. Other people disagree. One thing that's definately true is that you'll get more sedimentation if you use sugar, since the yeast will multiple and then drop out of suspension...

I tend to order a lot of stuff from listermann's, since they're about 1.5 hours away and have free shipping on anything over $39. I usually get my order the next day, shipped free. Can't beat that. Grain prices aren't the best though, if I order enough it might be cheaper to order from north...

I'm not really concerned about money, I'm just pointing out that getting into all grain brewing as a cost saving measure is not really the right reason to do it :)

Yep, same with my LHBS. But you can order it bulk much cheaper, and I generally bought enough at a time to get free shipping. AG is much cheaper than canned extract at the LHBS but not nearly as much cheaper when you can get bulk extract.

Cheapest I've found a 50lb bag of grain for is $40. Then I'd need to buy a mill. That'd work out to $8 for base grain, saving another $4. I'm still at over $18 :) Granted I could brew cheaper, but I like my beers around 1.050 and pretty hoppy. My pale ale uses simcoe for bittering, amarillo for...
