    Regulator won't go low enough

Hello, i just kegged a batch of beer and hooked up the regulator. I turned the knob all the way counter clockwise and lowest setting I can get the C02 to is 30 lbs. I've only used the regulator (The Governor) once before so I don't think that's the issue. Anyone have a recommendation? I'm...

    Poppet leaking

Hello, I took apart all of my keg components and put them back together. While cleaning (shaking the keg full of Oxyclean), one of the poppets is leaking out of the top where it gets depressed. Will this stop once I connect the C02 from the pressure, or do I need to replace the poppet? It's not...

    How do I clean this?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but how do I clean this? It's one of the connections to the keg. Do I disconnect the tube and soak it? Does it come apart? Thanks in advance.

How should I clean my very very dirty keg lines?

Hey everyone. I kegged a batch of beer about 3 years ago. After the keg was empty I never cleaned the lines or anything and they are pretty nasty. Should I buy new lines or can I clean mine? Do I clean the air line too? I only have Oxyclean and Starsan; if I can clean the lines, can I use...

Leaky keg post - pin lock keg question

Are there poppets in a pin lock keg post? When I received the keg I changed all of the O-rings and used lube no them. I watched several videos for cleaning kegs and they all address the poppets on a ball-lock keg. I cannot find any information online about the posts for pin-lock kegs...

    Yeast cake without washing life?

I kegged a batch last Saturday and didn't have time to wash the yeast. I dumped the whole cake into a gallon water jug and it's been sitting in my refrigerator since. I plan on washing it this weekend. Is there a problem with this? Thank you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Home Brew...

Purging oxygen from a pin lock keg

I bought of nifty thing that you can use to purge the keg but I am confused...you have to take the gas line off to use it. Would I just let it pressurize with c02, take off the line, purge it, and then put the line back on, and leave it on to carb the beer? Thank you.

Pin lock connectors, is there a difference?

I took the keg apart to clean it and one connector has 2 pins, the other has 3 pins. Is there a difference between the 2? Is one for the gas and one for the beer? Thank you.

    Yeast starter no krausen

I am using a stir plate for the first time and my starter looks like this after about 40 hours. It never developed a large krausen like I usually experience. Do stir plates lessen the krausen? Thanks. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Home Brew mobile app

New to kegging, a couple questions.

I have two questions, if someone could help me with them that would be awesome. First, my keg didn't come with a purge valve on it. I understand that I can push on the valve itself to purge the oxygen after racking the beer and sealing it, but my regulator has a purge valve built in. Would the...

Mold in my chest freezer/"fermentation chamber"

I had a 5 gallon Ale Pail in my chest freezer at around 68 degrees for a month. Today I am bottling and the pail had spots of green mold all over it. Does anyone know of a good method for avoiding this? Thank you!

    When should you bottle Cider?

My father-in-law is making a hard cider and is asking me when he should bottle it. I searched online a bit but there isn't nearly as much information out there for cider as their is for beer brewing. It has been fermenting for about 3 weeks and the airlock is bubbling every 6 seconds. The SG...

Pumpkin ale question... Add pumpkin to the boil, mash or both?

I'm brewing a pumpkin ale (all grain) for the first time and have checked out about 100 recipes trying to get ideas. It looks like most people add the pumpkin to the mash and many complain about slow or stuck sparges even when using rice hulls. For those of you that have brewed a pumpkin ale...

I used too much mash water... am I screwed?

I just realized that I mashed with an extra gallon of water. I used 4.7 gallon instead of 3.7. I am going to sparge with a gallon less of course. What can I expect from this beer? I haven't brewed in a while and I am out of practice. Thank you.

Should I pitch all of this or decant? Harvested yeast pic

I harvested/washed this yeast on Friday night out of a wheat beer I made... it is WLP-300. Anyway, I am going to use it this evening in a Dunkelweizen I'm brewing now (Sunday afternoon/evening). Judging by this picture and the time since I harvested it; would you reccomend pitching all of it or...

A couple questions about reusing yeast and amounts to use

I am going to reuse some yeast for the first time this weekend. I used Mr Malty and it says for a 1.049 OG I would need 886ml of wash slurry, just under a liter, this seems accurate/fine. My question is for this same OG it says I would need 2.1 packs of dry yeast or 6 vials of liquid yeast with...

    Coffee Grounds in Bottles

I threw some coffee grinds in my primary for a week... 4 oz worth. They never settled to the bottom. I guess I should have filtered it somehow or whatever - I know for next time this is a bad idea. Anyhow... I bottled tonight and a ton of coffee grinds got into my bottles... will the coffee...

    Yeast starter cold crash question/when

I created a 2L starter On Wednesday night. I want to brew tomorrow, Saturday. Today when I left work at 7:30am the starter was still churning and producing lots of krausen; bubbling up through the airlock. I planned on cold crashing the starter tonight before bed and decanting tomorrow afternoon...
