    Counterflow Chiller Length

My CFC is 24ish feet, works great. Summers here in VA the cold water temp gets down to about 65, which puts my wort at right at a lovely 70-72 degrees. I can usually pitch right away. I imagine that a CFC around 50' would be better for a warmer climate due to the longer contact time with the...

Hey all you Richmond guys/girls out there... according to Matt the grain should get here today. I will be heading up on Wednesday to pick up my grain and whoever from around RVA wants me to pick up for them. We can then work out arrangements when I get back with the grain. Just remind/respond...

VA group bulk grain buy #3

I am already picking up for another guy on here so if anyone wants me to haul it back then let me know. I can carry few hundred pounds, if not more, so let me know if anyone else wants me to pick up for them. We can work out pick-up details when the grain comes in.

Just built my 1500 watt heatstick!

This is just my humble emergency medicine/nursing background, but I would not mess around it either way and remove the silicone from around it. Leak test and see from there but I would think that if you followed others directions and were safe about the construction, there should be no leaks...

    Pump Guidance

Ok, so I know that March Pumps are essentially THE pump to use for brewing, but I have found a cheap pump on ebay that can handle the usual temps that are seen during the typical brew day. So I guess my question is why is this pump bad...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I actually put together Fly Guy's exact design yesterday and had all 3/8 parts but could've used 1/2 instead. What I did though was to use 1/16" thick rubber washers that had a 5/8 ID to fit right over the middle of the double male threaded piece. Put a rubber washer on either side and...

    American IPA, good or no?

I agree I think that it is a type of 2-row but I think that the color is even lower than the regular base malt. Thanks for the advice on the dry hopping as well, I thought that it was a little low but wasn't sure.

    American IPA, good or no?

I am going to be doing an American IPA and have created a recipe somewhat off of the top of my head. It's a 2.5g batch because thats what I have room to brew. Looking for any improvements or thoughts from the better-than-me brewers out there. 4lb. US Pale Ale Malt 3lb. US 2-Row Malt 1lb. US...
