    beetles?

If I recall, the stuff says you can spray it on your vegetables right up until the day you harvest. So, while I'm not going to go spraying it in my mouth, I guess the whole "organic" nature of it makes it harmless.

    beetles?

I brought the pics to my local garden center today and they said it was a type of beetle they couldn't identify and suggested an organic bug spray - Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew. It had the word "brew" in the name, so I couldn't resist. Hopefully it works. Thanks for the suggestions all!

    beetles?

Most of my 2nd year hops are up around 7 feet now, except my cascades, which have been getting eaten by something. Today I finally spotted them. The look to be tiny beetles? Anyone know? And how to get rid of them?

    Chicago & Philly Brewpubs???

Ahh, I had it backwards. Then.... If you're willing to drive to Philly, then just jump on 202 and hit Capones from there. Probably 15-20 minute drive from Wayne.

    Chicago & Philly Brewpubs???

If you're willing to drive to Wayne you may as well go to Capones in norristown. It's not a brewpub but is rated as the #25 beer destination in the world (according to ratebeer). 30+ hard to get craft beers on tap and even harder to get beers in the bottle shop. And taking 76 has traffic...

1st all grain O.G. way high. Is my efficiency low?

What was your final volume after sparge? If 5-5.5 gallons, then it sounds like your hydrometer is off by about 15 points.

Converting the Frigidaire 7.2 cu ft Chest Freezer

I've got pin locks. Oddly, kegconnection sent me 2 short and stubby kegs, and my LHBS had tall thinner ones. If you've got the shorter ones, I don't think you'd be able to fit what you want on the bottom. Skinny and tall, I cant say for sure.

Thanks to Quaffer and everyone else in this thread for the info and ideas. I'll add more taps in the future, but I'm a happy man for now

    Katydids?

As I was spraying to try to control a spider mite issue I saw this guy sitting at the top of my hops. I researched and found him to be a katydid. The wiki on them say some eat plants, but some prey on insects. Sooooo, do I get rid of him, or allow him to control my spider problem?

What are these and how do I get rid of them?

1st year grower. This is on a rhizome given to me, either Willamette or Fuggle. It's about 15 feet high now, but I notied the leaves were browning. I assumed it was nitrogen deficiency until I saw these guys. Look like spiders, but only seem to have 6 legs? All help is much appreciated

Thanks. I didn't use fertilizer. The weather has been quite ugly over the past few days when this problem really got bad. I'll take all your advice. Thanks again!!

    Burned out leaves (pics)

First year growing hops. I planted with about a 50/50 mixture of compost and soil. I live in southeast PA where it ranges from 40s to 90s at the time of year. I water almost everyday that it doesn't rain. I got one rhizome from a neighbor and that's about 4 feet tall now. The leaves...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

I brewed the recipe as posted two weeks ago. Sampled from primary today and it's great. Is there any good reason the primary is written as "at least 4 weeks"??

hop rhizomes planted 2 weeks ago. nothing shooting up yet

Also in Southeast PA, 3 out of 4 sprouts popped up yesterday just after 2 weeks. As long as you didn't plant too deep, they should be up soon.

    Should IPA starter be hopped?

There's an articlehere that suggested adding one or two pellets per liter. Hops have anti-bacterial effects that help keep your starter sanitary. Not so sure 1 or 2 pellets will mimick the flavor of an IPA, but I doesn't hurt in getting you there.
