How should I use an extra Sanke keg?

I built Kals ElectricBrewery about 9 years ago with converted kegs for the HLT and BK and my main regret is not inverting my boil kettle. I went with a large plastic food safe drum as a mash tun but it’s WAY too big. Have an extra keg so now I’m trying to decide if I should turn it into an...

GFCI Spa Panel (Hate making a new thread but...)

That was real heavy duty stuff, hard to bend/manipulate with bare hands--It was either 10/3 or 10/2 from HD and i had to buy 25' of it for almost $1/ft even though i only ended up needing about 3' for the job. (Installed by a professional electrician. ) Just because it is orange doesn't mean it...

OFFICIAL Kate the Great Russian Imperial Stout Clone

I used 1.25 med toast oak spirals that I had soaked in tawny port in my hydrometer. Added to secondary and let it sit in there about two months. Oops. Way...too oaky Added some more port to a small sample using a 3 ml syringe to taste and did the math for the 5gal batch. Figured I wanted...

Still alive - just tackling a HUGE DIY

My dad and I rented one of those lifts to drywall the ceiling of his woodshop. Worth every penny to crank those drywall panels up and hold them tight against the joists! Looking great!

All Grain Mash Tun (need ideas for my 30gal blue barrel)

I am 99% sure I used a stainless steel coil/spring inside the braid, to give it some extra strength, but I definitely don't have any pictures of that.

All Grain Mash Tun (need ideas for my 30gal blue barrel)

There are some pictures of the barrel/labeling up above but you can also look in my gallery to see how it all came together. The barrel was a gift from a friend, whose employer over-ordered them so they were getting rid of them (they do NOT stack well since the sides are vertical). EDIT...

    Crazy question here, just sayin

Buy big or buy twice. You might want to "only brew 5 gallons" today, but in a year, you and your buddy might be wanting to split 10gal or even larger batches. I brew inside using a control panel I built following instructions I purchased from theelectricbrewery.com and I sourced all of the...

Hope you are kidding. Hops are poisonous to dogs. You can use spent grains to make dog cookies but once the hops have been added at boil....not a good idea...

    Keezer in a freezing garage

If you use a temp controller that has the capability to cool AND heat, you can attach a small heater (can light bulb, etc) and whenever the temp inside the freezer gets BELOW the target (+/- set allowable variance), the heat will kick on (just like the freezer does when the temp rises above the...

    Confession Time

I have spent WAY more on this hobby than my wife realizes.... (that felt good. Let's keep going....) I have never used PBW on my brewing system (only on used kegs I just bought from questionable sources and wanted to remove stains). I gently 'wash' what I can reach with a plastic yellow and...
