Outdoor Kitchen/BBQ patio with beer tap project.

Been a while, but I've kept busy with Covid projects. This is my outdoor kitchen/BBQ patio & bar. The only thing missing was draft beer. That little red arrow points to a a High West Whiskey tasting box which I converted into my secret tap. It took a 10 inch shank to go through the wall of...

    Second try at hops

Howdy, It's been a long time since I've posted and this year I've decided to give hops another try in central Texas. This time, it was 4 Cascade rhizomes, but planted in a large deep water trough using the same setup for the twine for the hop bines to climb. So far so good. One has reached...

Edworts Apfelwein - Turning Wannabe's into Brewers

I was first introduced to Apfelwein in Darmstadt, Germany at a friend's party. It's a local hard cider drink from the Frankfurt area, but is now famous throughout the world and I enjoyed it for 5 years back in the early 90's. I have been homebrewing since 1987, but did not bother during the 5...

    A little Apfelwein nostalgia

SWMBO came across an old homebrew log book the other day when I got back into brewing after returning from living in beer heaven (Germany) and lo and behold, I found my first attempt at Apfelwein. Needless to say, it was a bust. Pitching dry yeast into juice made from concentrate & spring...

Howdy folks, We do things big in Texas. :D Here in Austin we are about to wrap up a bulk buy with 6 pallets (12,600#) of malt. Minimum buy in is 8 bags (get a friend(s) as long as one person is responsible for payment via credit card). We have some room on the 6th pallet or if there is...

New post a picture of your pint

It seems that the old thread was accidentally vaporized by a wort boilover, so let's begin anew.

    Troubleshoot this Corny Keg problem

I have a good friend who has a keg that consistently produces foam. He brewed up and kegged a batch of Hefe for my Oktoberfest party and I carbed it with a few other kegs. When I tapped it, I noticed that he gave me the foamy keg. The funny thing, the keg does not leak gas or beer, but when...

    Happy Birthday to Me!

Came in from kegging some Kolsch today and found this on the table. Hmmm. Which one to try first. I think the beer for now and the cake for later.

What's the most expensive 6 pack of beer you've seen?

I was in Las Vegas last week and came across a sixer of Stone's Ruination for $17.99 at Whole Foods. What's the most expensive 6 pack of 12 oz. bottles of beer that you've seen. This one takes the cake for me so far.

    Grilled Sirloin

Sunflower Markets has Top Sirloin on sale this week for $2.99 a pound so I thought I would give it a go. Man were these good, less than 9 bucks total and better than most steaks in a restaurant. Washed down with a fresh cold Bavarian Hefeweizen.

    Best Keg Wrench Evah!

I cleaned 13 kegs today and pulled the posts & dip tubes off each one for a separate soak. This is the tool to have when you have lots of keg posts to remove and put back on later. I have kegs with both sizes of posts (11/16 and 7/8) and this puppy has both and ratchets. It made the chore a...

Current price for a sixer of Flying Dog's Raging Biatch?

Can some members pipe in with the current price of FD's Raging Biatch Belgian IPA. It was launched here in Austin around $8.99 a sixer, but now seems to have gone through the roof over $11 bucks. I'm just wondering what other folks are experiencing. BTW, it's an Awesome beer IMHO.

Using Gelatin - Add to Room Temp or Chilled Beer?

Well, I have tried both ways.....Adding to room temp kegs and chilled kegs of my beer (not yet carbed). I normally do not fine by beer, unless I will be transporting it to a party. I just want to say, adding it the warm gelatin mixture to my chilled kegs of beer worked fantastic and the room...

    Brewing a new IPA today

Trying out a new hop, so I figured I would try changing up the grain bill too. It better be good since I will have 3 kegs of it. :cross: I'll think of a name later. This was made with the recipe calculator over at TastyBrew dot com.
