    Chi Company

I got no problem with CHI. The more competition the better. I have had lots of orders with them with no problems. Spent $1000's with them. They have good selection and their own way of operating that keeps costs down. I also don't really care for people that demand low cost products and...

    Butternut IPA

Hogwash! Style guidelines are for competitions and commercial breweries! They have no place for a homebrewer:D Beer is being redefined in America. It's a fine idea-- try a british style ipa grain bill. Use some roasted barley--- try carafa-- 1 or 2-- for the nut flavor and use irish ale...

    How's my water?

Okay found this: PH = 5.8 + ( 0.00168 x RA) Taking your RA from TH’s spreadsheet— gives you a PH 5.91 before crystal/roasted additions or acid. 5.61 PH if you add 10% crystal malt to the recipe. Double checked it on the formula I gave you earlier and got a PH 5.92...

    How's my water?

http://braukaiser.com/documents/Kaiser_water_calculator.xls try that... it’s not that great took me a second to figure it out. And it's no bother if you are diluting with ro/distilled water. Your water will be good then. Curious though? Why the baking soda addition for...

Sealing a Corny Keg without using CO2...

no safety hazard. the kegs are rated to like 100 psi... and they have relief valve that will pop before then. re fit the lid on the keg.. try to seal it again with the charger... should work so long as the keg is in good shape.

Glycol vs Water for line cooling

the biggest maxis are only like 225 gph i think-- they're little guys-- but nice... so if you 60 feet of coolant lines the tetra was a better choice for sure...

Go with a walk in fridge. Set up zones/rooms of varying temperatures... Ale fermenting zone, lagering zone, multiple keg serving zones, hop freezer zone, yeast storing zone... haha

    How's my water?

"TH's" water profiler looks great... I would like an actual number for estimated PH though. That way I can compare it to the real PH when brewing (mashing and boiling) and make adjustments if needed. Over time--making the same batches over and over-- you can see how accurate the...

    my latest kegorator build

My motto is "if something is worth doing, it's worth getting OCD about and way over-doing". AMEN! But if you were really OCD you would be able to set each keg at different temperatures :D Something tells me you will probably figure that one out too...

Glycol vs Water for line cooling

Maxi jet is ten times better then any Rio! Owned a dozen maxi's and few rio's. By far none the most reliable small water pump. another hobby of mine--- www.reefcentral.com

    How's my water?

I like the spread sheet.. Does it actually tell you what your mash and pre boil PH is any where? A little confirmation when you are brewing is nice...

Irish Stout Ode To Arthur, Irish Stout (Guinness Clone)

torrified barley-- don't think i have seen it... but sounds like it would work fine. you want to mill torrified stuff to expose the starch... torrified is basically the same as flakes--- cooked (gelatinized) and dried (toasted). Flakes are just rolled flat before drying.

    How's my water?

Water is 90+% of your beer... Good water makes good beer. That said your water maybe good water-- try it then you'll know. Carbonate is high though and that will effect mashing, and to lesser degree hop utilization, not mention flavor. Try this to see what PH will be. Maybe you can just...

Glycol vs Water for line cooling

Any aquarium pump will work-- but maxi jets are great because they last. dr foster and smith .com is good source for that stuff.

    How's my water?

You can try it and see... but that's a lot of salt (sodium). The acidity of roasted/crystal malts in a stout will help deal with the carbonate-- but role with the untreated water. The calcium, sulfur, and magnesium levels are fine in untreated water. RO makers are like a $100- $150 bucks--...

I like the dedication to a perfect pint... And the fact your brewing like crazy! I just think you are over complicating your very nice kegerator just for the sake of doing it. not so much for you but for guys setting up kegerators for the first time and might think these extensions are...
