I think you are right, it comes down to durability. I am actually thinking the stainless version might be better. There would be no corrosion, like happens with copper. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I saw an article, BYO maybe, about a CFC made from PVC on the outside. It was a horizontal CFC. Was that what you did? Do you have photos?

Looks like Williams Brewing has an all stainless steel version that the inner wort tubing in convoluted, inside the outer tubing. Says it insures better cooling.

I am looking at my options for counter flow wort chillers. Most of the ones that I have seen are rubber on the outside, but some are all copper. What are the pros and cons of each? I can see where an all copper chiller might last longer than one with rubber tubing on the outside. Thoughts?

Is it possible to use one of the aquarium temp controllers that a lot of people are using to control their keezers, to control the heating element? I know this assumes I will be using a 120v element, which I would be. Thanks

I thought stainless or copper was the preferred way to go. I am building my keggle now and have used a stainless steel bulkhead, valve and nipple. I am fairly sure that I will be ordering Bobby M's stainless dip tube as well.
