Using a Corney as it was originally intended

That is SOP here. I actually add some Burton salts (1-2 tsp/5 gal) to my water due to its low mineral content. I just carb H2O at the same rate as the beer (2.5 vol) - haven't had any complaints, but I don't drink soda. I like it for my mineral water, either straight or w/ my scotch. Water is...

Anyone have opinions on Bayou SQ14 or SP10?

once again- I'm too late to help, but it was approx an inch or so of space all around the burner - probably a 10" diam piece? I agree on the frame - I really loved that aspect. I never tried it, but I guess you could replace the burner w/ a basic one and get a 30psi reg. My brew stand has the...

Anyone have opinions on Bayou SQ14 or SP10?

You've already got it, so my 2¢ is kine of moot, but for others, here goes. The SQ-14 I used to have I liked for the frame to hold a big kettle, but the burner can blow itself out when cranked, so you can only use a 10psi reg. When I got my keggle, I really wanted more power. I would've gone w/...

World Cup of Beer Homebrew comp is coming up!

Howdy folks- Just wanted to let you all know about this upcoming homebrew comp. While based in the SF Bay Area- it is open to all homebrewers. Last year we had folks from 12 states enter, so that was pretty cool to see. Due to other commitments (this being one), I don't get to the forums much...

    The Lager Jacket

Funny- I was just talking about this exact idea to product designer friend recently, but I lack the ability to engineer something like this! I have pages and sketches of notes and the big question was how to get the peltier to work effectively w/ a wrap. Good job and I am glad someone is finally...

Need some help/advice- Plate chiller eff issues?

I may try to switch the flow direction next time just to see- but per the 'manual', it's flowing the correct way.

Need some help/advice- Plate chiller eff issues?

Here are the results. Test batch size - 8 gal at 210º Test 1 - I ran everything like a normal brew day, but w/ the plate chiller flat. this seemed to help A LOT. by recirc'ing I got my out temp to 70-72º in 2-3 min (pump throttled half way) and temp didn't seem to go lower. I then noticed...

Need some help/advice- Plate chiller eff issues?

Tried to find a pic, but I have it hooked up like this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003IS7NBK?ie=UTF8&tag=s2v4-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B003IS7NBK which is also the same as the diagram on the Duda chiller. but if you go here...

Need some help/advice- Plate chiller eff issues?

As above- mentioned I do recirc into the BK and then over to the fermenter when I get a good temp out of the chiller. and if I slow the wort down flow any lower, it'd merely be a trickle.

Need some help/advice- Plate chiller eff issues?

Howdy folks, and Help!- I did a search, but didn't find anything directly fitting my issues. I'm going try to try and give as much detail in hopes someone might have advice. I have a new toy- a Dudadiesel 30 plate chiller, used it the 2nd time yesterday. I figured I needed to start conserving...

Cleaners and Sanitizers - A downloadable doc for easy reference

I've been meaning to post this, but have neglected to til now (prompted by this thread) I spent a few months researching and experimenting to put this doc together for our homebrew club, so I hope it's helpful. It is more-or-less a compiled version of the stickied thread meant for easy...

Best and/or Worst Brewing Gadgets You've Ever Purchased

Wow- this thread came back from the dead! Fun read tho, so I'll add my 2 pennies: Best: March pump (absolutely a game changer for me) Autosiphon Derrin's Sankey keg doohickey not many 'worst', but the most expensive, least used item I have is the Blichman Beer Gun - Having 10 feet of...

Anyone turn dorm fridge into a lager device?

Yep, sure have. Got one for free, so I figured what the heck. Just bend the plate back very slowly and carefully, and you are golden. I then made a little 'stool' out of some scrap wood to make a flat space in front of the compressor ledge (same height). Took off the door shelves and It worked...

March Pump SS Head? Best Price?

I was just going to recco that as well. I just got one of those- as they state in the post, the threads are a little rough, but not to any degree that would adversely affect it. I gave them an extra wrap of teflon tape and had no problem.

Weld-less kettle valve kit not working

If that's all the kit came with, you can add a washer and another silicone o-ring to close up the gap and get a tight leak-free fit. I had to do that w/ a thermometer or 2, So it would go like this: Valve > washer > o-ring > bulkhead > o-ring > nut Can you post a link to the one you have or...

    Semi-urgent Potentiometer help

Man, I am trying to tap into knowledge at least 15 years old from when I left my former career as an electronics tech, and from the posters here I would expect someone w/ active knowledge to chime in at some point. BUT, that being said- a potentiometer is simply a variable resistor, which will...
