Howdy folks- Just wanted to let you all know about this upcoming homebrew comp. While based in the SF Bay Area- it is open to all homebrewers. Last year we had folks from 12 states enter, so that was pretty cool to see. Due to other commitments (this being one), I don't get to the forums much anymore, but I'll try to check back and address any questions/comments. If you have specific questions, the best way to reach me is the email listed below.
CALLING ENTRANTS, JUDGES & STEWARDS! Its time to get your best recipes out and start thinking about your award-winning creation for the 17th Annual World Cup of Beer, which has become one of the largest Homebrew Competitions. Last year we had 640 entries with submissions from across the US. After the Final Judging on April 2nd, well host the Awards Ceremony at Trumer Brauerei in Berkeley, CA. Ribbons and prizes will awarded to all winners, and for those unable to attend, ribbons and prizes will be mailed out.
World Cup 17 is open to all styles and sub-styles of beer, mead, and cider, in BJCP categories 1 through 28.
The 2011 World Cup of Beer is a regional qualifying event for the Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB) http://www.masterhomebrewer.org/ , a national homebrew competition dedicated to providing the finest judging. To enter the MCAB, you must win a first place in an MCAB qualifying style in one of the 17 MCAB qualifying events.
Our 17th Annual World Cup is sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association and the Beer Judge Certification Program.
For 2011 we have moved everything online, including all information, registration, entry, and payment. We hope this will add much convenience to you. Please contact us if you have limited online access and we will provide other forms to use.
BEST of SHOW: Once again, Linden Street Brewery (Oakland, CA) is sponsoring the best of show prize. The winner will brew their winning beer on Linden Street's system with the Brewmaster, Adam Lamareux. The brew day will be followed by a BBQ for you and your friends. Once the beer is finished, you'll have plenty to take home with you. In the event a non-local entrant wins BOS, this prize will still be available to you, but may not work for you logistically - in that case we will be sure to get you a nice prize package instead.
All information and forms are at http://worldcupofbeer.com/
Key Dates:
Entry window opens: Fri, February 18
Entry Deadline: Sat, March 12
Prelim Judging (Trumer Brauerei): Sat, March 26
Final Judging/Awards (Trumer Brauerei): Sat, April 2
Prost!
