    Consecration kit from MoreBeer

Carl, thanks for the reply. I guess we'll keep our fingers crossed. My abbey is bubbling its way down to the requisite gravity, I hope. Did you make a starter for the brett / currants?

    Consecration kit from MoreBeer

Folks, I just brewed this one up today. I may have been over zealous in my yeast purchasing, but I bought both the Brett and the Roselare. As I read the instructions, it looks like fermentation is with the Abbey for the first 2 to 3 days, then racked into a secondary with the Brett and the...

    Off Taste With StarSan?

Hello All, I thought I might consult with the council on an issue that I have been having with respect to an off taste that I have been getting in my beer after it has been bottled. At the time of bottling, I generally think that the beer tastes good, but after three weeks in bottles, it...

Making a starter... but won't start

Me thinks/knows I did too. I'll see how it is looking when I get home this evening. Thank you all for your assistance.

Making a starter... but won't start

Hello all: I am attempting a couple firsts with this next batch: (1) Reusing washed yeast; and (2) Making a starter. With those variables in mind, I made a starter on Wednesday, following the directions on the Brew Wiki. Dumpted it into a Growler. I pitched my washed yeast, with the...

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

    4352.5 + 5 = 4357.5 My second batch! I've made .23% of the Apfelwein! :ban:

adding coffee beans in secondary fermentation

Any chance you want to share the recipe? I have some future family in the Grand Rapids area and dig most of the Founders offerings, including ther Old Dirty Bastard, which I cloned, and probably was my favorite beer to date.

    Primary > Secondary

If only I kegged. I was perusing some of the issues with bottling and having the yeast fall out. I guess I'll just have to roll with a secondary in order to clear it up. Thanks for your help!

    Primary > Secondary

I am trying the extended primary thing for my latest beer. Thus far, it is at 2 1/2 weeks. Is it possible to throw gelatin right in the primary, or will there be some adverse side effects? What type of gelatin do you use? For those that have done the extended primary, do you usually go for...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I checked the gravity, came in right at 1.000. It was perfect! I can see what all the fuss is about.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I had a brief question on priming my Apfelwein. I fermented with the Lavatin(sp?) champagne yeast, and I pulled off a quick sample to taste. Tasted great, and was bubbly. Should I still prime with sugar? Thanks!

Taking my secondary for a car ride

I did the ole car ride deal with a secondary a couple months ago when moving into my new house. The beer tasted terrible (note: it tasted pretty good between the primary and secondary). I'd roll with the bottles.

    Stone Ruination Ale

I am going to contribute to the off topicness...:off: But yes, that Scullers IPA is wicked. And it sneaks up on you when you are out. I also find the Mongoose IPA from Hale's a bit on the "hop silliness" scale... Back on topic... I had a friend make a Ruinator Clone. Bit darker, but...

    Favorite Hop Combinations

I like the Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial tri-fecta. I've also been using a Magnum and Cascade combination.

I forgot that I had this one on my 'puter and found it via Google over a year and a half ago. I've not used it, so go yer best.

Mac & Jack Amber recipe needed.

I got this one from Bader Beer and Wine Supply down in Vancouver. I believe it was also posted in BYO. I made it, but it was my third beer ever and didn't really turn out as well as I would have liked. I have been meaning to go back and take another pass at it. Good Luck!

Comments on my IPA recipe? Brewing this sunday!

Well, I'll put two cents in on the dryhopping. I really like the Amarillo as a dryhop and it'll definitely round out the beer.
