    Possible problem in fermenter, *PICS*

I brewed an IPA yesterday with an SG of 1.070. Pitched some S-05 yeast into the better bottle by just sprinkling it in. I think some of the dry yeast might have clung to the neck of the carboy and the pictures below are the result of the little yeasties being hydrated but I wanted you guys to...

How long should you let a bottle settle after being shipped?

I have sent out some bottles to a buddy and was wondering how long he should wait for everything to settle out in the bottle. Besides the stuff floating around in the bottle from shipping, the beers are ready to drink.

Question about a different sparging method

So I have been doing all grain for a bit now and have been getting around 70% efficiency. I do a double batch sparge. I was talking to a buddy about it, and he asked if I thought I would get a better efficiency if instead of adding clean water to the second sparge, what if I took the wort...

Detach a keg from a faucet when there is still beer in the keg?

Hope there is a simple solution to this. Is it possible to detach a keg from the faucet if there is still beer in the line without spilling beer all over the place? I am sure its something simple and I am overlooking something.

For Sale or Trade: 5 1/8 Shanks

I bought a 3 keg fridge kit from Keg Connection recently and it came with the 5 1/8inch shanks. I am planning on building a tower and need shorter shanks or tower shanks. So I am selling the larger shanks or willing to trade the shanks for shorter shanks. These 3 shanks are brand new, never...

Just got an upright freezer and have a question

Just got an older upright freezer off craigslist and plan on converting to a kegerator. This thing is only 4 feet tall so it would be perfect to have the taps on the top of the freezer and not on the door. My question is how would I find out where the coolant lines are running? In...

    Multiple Mash Brewing

I was reading up about the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout today and noticed that they mentioned that they use three mashes to make this brew. I assume this means that they mash different grains/combo of grains in three different mash tuns and then dump it all in the boil to create one brew...

Probably a simple kegging question related to your process.

I am getting ready to start kegging beer and I was thinking about the process in which most of you go about using your co2 tanks. So I know the basics of filling the keg and carbing the beer from the co2 tank. But my question is about when you have your keezer setup with your couple of...

Anybody just leave their hydrometer in the carboy?

I was just wondering if any of you just plop your hygrometer in the carboy so that you can check the gravity without having to pop the carboy open and get a sample. Would this affect the fermentation process at all?
