    I can only speak from the experience I've had thus far. My water tastes great straight outta the water softener from the well. I could always taste something off in the beers that I made. I switched to RO water from the well and built my recipe (additions) accordingly. It has done wonders...

    Don't worry about the water you sanitize with. You only have to worry about the water you brew with. You'll be just fine with the well water.

    What I did for beer today

    Inventoried ingredients, organized Beer Smith, made two recipes to get rid of older grain quickly, purchased new ingredients for the next month and watched an air lock bubble. Now I'm on a forum talking about it.......

    Well water

    I thought my water tasted good until I chased a bad flavor. I have too much rust, even after softening to make good beer. It took many batches to figure it out, however the RO system makes excellent beer. Just a thought. Every well is different.

    So you are saying it is wrong to remove the label and use a roloc disk to remove the custom cap printing and say its mine? Now what do I do? Oh well, I had a good run. Another reason why I keg.

    Hard water ever effect the taste of your finished beer?

    With extract brewing, you don't have worry as much about minerals in your water. That being said distilled or RO water is perfect to kill off flavors. I chased an off flavor for over a year and just recently discovered that the iron in my softened well water was the culprit. I now brew with RO...
