    Brooklyn Dark Choc Stout clone?

Can anyone help me out with this recipe? I absolutley LOVE this beer and do not think they distribute in my area. I would really like to brew this up this summer so I can have it for fall. There are several speculated recipes online, but does anyone have some solid info or a recipe? Prefer...

    Big extract batch from kits?

I think he is wanting to do a Hoegarten (belgian white?) type beer so I dont think the ibu's will be too much of an issue.

    Big extract batch from kits?

Asking for a friend that posed the question to me... Is there any issue with using 5 of the same kits (probably tru brew) and doing a partial boil 6-8 gallons then topping up with water to the 25 gallon mark and fermenting them together in a large enough fermenter? He does not have the...

    Garden hose flavors

So I screwed up and used the hose to fill the mash tun while brewing. Now the batch tastes horrible. (Tasty Brown Ale from morebeer) It has a huge plastic type/vinyl flavor that I first thought was due to chlorine, but later discovered was coming from the hose. Any ideas on how to salvage it?

    Campden tabs in the keg?

Can you add campden tablets in the keg, fermenter or any other post boil vessel to remove chloramine's, or must it be added prior to boil? Got a keg of IPA that I am pretty sure is full of chloramines. It has a kind of a plastic, chlorine, pool water after taste and I have brewed this exact...

    How much ya brew?

Set a new personal best this weekend. 5 batches, 2 AG, 2 PM, 1 extract in two days. I hit all my numbers, no major screw ups, plus built a new mash tun and set up a new keezer with hot/cold temp control for fermentation/serving. Even got to bed before 10pm both nights and had a few brews...

Double pitching dry yeast? Overpitching problems?

Overall I was just curious about the results, good and bad. Thanks everyone for the info. I will likely just hydrate one pack and pitch.

Double pitching dry yeast? Overpitching problems?

Not too worried about the temps since I plan to use a temp controlled keezer as soon as my controller arrives. The acetylaldehyde is a big concern though. Not too worried about the lack or esters.

Double pitching dry yeast? Overpitching problems?

I am gearing up for a couple of 1.050 range brews this weekend and will not be making starters for the dry yeast (safale-05) Has anyone here had problems pitching two packs in a 6 gallon batch? If so, what were they? MrMalty has a 6 gallon batch at 1.050 as requiring exactly one 11.5 gram pack...

    Which 4 types of beer

    1. IPA/IIPA 2. Oatmeal Stout/Irish Stout/ or similar 3. APA 4. Brown Ale I am toying with the idea of a 5-6 tap keezer in the future. My plans are to have an IPA, APA, Stout, Light Lager/Ale (for the BMC folks) Brown Ale and maybe one wildcard tap for whatever I feel like brewing. Prob drink...

1st and 2nd brews take like apples (sort of)

I will go against a lot of what I have read here and on other forums and say this... I had the same flavor issues with a coopers english bitter after fermenting in the low 60's. Very strong green apple flavors were present and the beer was not drinkable. My next several kits and all grain...

    Diacetyl with pilsner malt??

Boil length on all were 90 min. The kolsch was fermented on the cool side 60-64F, smack pack stepped into a starter, primary for 4 weeks and then into the keg. Same taste with the Pale, smack pack of 1056. No starter. 3 weeks primary. 2-3 weeks secondary w/dry hop and then kegged. Same...

    Diacetyl with pilsner malt??

I have recently brewed several all, or almost all, pilsner malt beers in different styles and with different yeasts. I am picking up a flavor that may be diacetyl, but it doesn't come across with a buttery nose.... its more of an oil slick on the tounge feeling. I'm not sure how else to describe...
