    Cloudy All Grain

Thanks, Yooper. To be honest, it seemed a bit clearer coming out of the MLT, but I could be wrong. This was my first all grain and I had a million things to worry about and didn't pay close attention to the clarity. Lesson learned. I didn't test with iodine nor did I use Irish Moss. Next...

    Cloudy All Grain

Brewed up my first all grain batch back in January. It was a Moose Drool (brown ale) clone. Primary for 3 weeks, secondary for 2 weeks, and in bottles for 3 weeks now. The taste is incredible!!! Incredibly fresh and just plain good. However, it looks like chocolate milk...it's extremely...

    The Bachelor

Okay, I know some of you men out there get stuck watching The Bachelor like I do every Monday night, right? Don't deny it. SWMBO loves this show and I put up with it because she puts up with my brewing. Anyway, The Bachelor went to the home of one of the girls and I think her dad was a...

    Fermentation While On Business Trip.

Okay, so about 4 weeks ago, I brewed my first all grain. It was a simple brown ale recipe that came in with an O.G. of 1.068. I put it into primary for exactly 3 weeks and it dropped down to 1.018. I racked to secondary about 8 days ago and I was going to bottle this Tuesday, but I just found...

Bigfoot -- how long before do they brew?

I'm watching a Bigfoot documentary on National Geographic right now. Do people really think "The Patterson Film" from the 60's is real? Wish I had some Bigfoot Ale.

    My First AG Brew

Congrats! I just did my first all grain batch about 3 weeks ago and loved the process. To me, it was much more fun than extract. I racked to secondary today and tasted a sample.....tasted great! Can't wait to bottle and drink!

Easy 80% efficiency in 500 sq ft

Interesting concept, but I fear many on here will pick this method apart. If you're happy with your brew and you enjoy it, brew on my friend, and forget the naysayers.

Harrisburg to Philly - Brewery Tour Plan

There are several Iron Hill Breweries in the area as well. More of a restaurant than a brewery, but they make some tasty stuff. I recommend the Vienna Red and the Pig Iron Porter. Grab a burger and make it a meal.

    New brewer here, any tips?

Think of any question you have and use the search feature. If you're a new brewer, odds are that you will have a lot of the same questions as other new brewers. I cannot begin to tell you how much I learned from this site. YouTube is your friend too. Good luck!

    AG first bach on sunday

I brewed extract brews for about a year before I did my first all grain about two weeks ago. I had similar issues... I had to do a split boil because my stove isn't capable of boiling 6.5 gallons of wort. If you're going to do a split boil, make sure you take into account that you will have...

Is My Bottling Bucket Usable After Spent Grains Fermented In It?

You could do the above, and after that, I personally would put some sanitizer in there and let that sit for a day.

    100 Craft Beers in 2011

Just 100 different craft beers. Maybe my challenge for 2012 will be a craft beer from each of the 50 states.

    100 Craft Beers in 2011

I want to drink 100 different craft beers in 2011. I assume I'm not the only person on this site who keeps track of beers I have tried. For a while, I was logging my reviews at www.ratebeer.com, but I just found it boring after a while. I just keep a spreadsheet with the beers now. So far...

    Does Anyone Else Dislike Hops?

Dumb question, but can hops with a high alpha acid % eat away at the enamel on your teeth? I would imagine some of the strong hopbombs out there would eventually fake a toll on your grill (teeth). Granted, it would probably take several years for any decaying, but I swear I read this somewhere.
