    Taste of Beer Before Bottling

It will be MUCH better after it sits in bottle for a few weeks. My first batch, I made a point to taste it at bottling. it was Meh. Two weeks later is was better, but not great. 4 weeks in the bottle, was VERY NICE. After that it just got better and better. I do at least 4 weeks in fermenter...

    Forgot to take OG reading.

I did the same thing on my first batch (extract). It was AWESOME! Now, since I only do extract I don't even bother with it. Congratz on your first batch!

Ale ? When can I put in fridge ?

As above, 3 weeks seems to be the best. It's hard to wait, but it will be worth it!

First brew is in the bottle!

Aye, I have a brown ale that I want to start, just have not had the time to spend on it yet. Should be moving within a couple months so I'll have more brew storage area, that will also help. I'm a bit limited now. Cheers

First brew is in the bottle!

Thought I would give an update on this brew. After two weeks in bottle, I put one in the fridge for 24 hours, and I opened it last night! Nice carb, very little head, pretty clear with a slight haze, very nice hop aroma, and the taste was really nice. Gonna give it another week in bottle before...

First brew is in the bottle!

Reading this board is exactly why I waited as long as I did. I saw so many posts talking about more time in primary was better and that 4 weeks should be considered minimum. I took that advice seriously and I wanted to do it right the first time. I've always tried to teach my kids "If you don't...

First brew is in the bottle!

Thanks all! Indeed the additional time appears to have been very beneficial. I'll report back once the beer has had time to get happy in the bottle. Think I'll brew up that Brown Ale on Saturday.

First brew is in the bottle!

After a little more than 4 weeks in the carboy, I finally bottled my very first brew! (SA Boston Ale Clone from AHS) Everything went just fine. The beer smells awesome and tasted great! I remember doing a little taste after 2 weeks. The difference from then and now is HUGE. The extra time did...

My thoughts exactly! Started my first batch last weekend, and I just ordered another fermenter as I have a Nut Brown Ale kit calling me.

    Brew Day Gone Bad!!

Sorry to hear of your loss. One thing I have learned on this board that I will never forget is, you can almost always save your batch. Best of luck on your next one though, it's bound to go better!

Going through the Big "V" and i don't mean Vegas.

Aye, the tugging was a strange sensation indeed. I kind of forgot about that...

Going through the Big "V" and i don't mean Vegas.

Had mine done on a Friday, and I was a bit sore for a few days. After that, it was all good. The absolute worst part for me was the local injection. Other than that, no pain during the procedure. I would not want to do it again, but I am glad I did it.

    Another Newb Brew

lol, a little, yes. I do keep peeking under the T-shirt covering the carboy though. Pretty nifty stuff happening under there.

    Another Newb Brew

Well, I went and done it. I put my first batch of extract brew in the fermenter yesterday afternoon. It is now bubbling away quite nicely. I had a little trouble with the boil. My stove CAN boil 3 gallons but it took a bit longer than expected to get there. I may do 2 or 2.5 next time. Also...
